FOR SALE 1997 W210 E60 AMG, Polar White/Black, 149kkm, BaT auction (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)

There is/was another one of these cars for sale in San Fran recently, no where near as nice as the OPs tho...it had a red interior (really quite bad IMO) .

Anyone see it? I deleted the link to it someone sent me.

There is a W210 RENNtech E60 RS for sale in San Francisco with red/gray/black interior, but no W210 AMG E60 that I'm aware of.

That must have been the one Dave...yeah, I remember now it was like David Hendy's RS; not this white car.

Re: FS: 1997 W210 E60 AMG - $35k (Alberta, Canada)

Those assumptions are probably as good as it is going to get (given the information), unless we have some actualy build numbers or see one for sale with a later build date.

Hey Guys, this black E60 was for sale in Dubai a few months ago, data card says delivery date 7/97 and it's engine number 0153, interestingly it comes up as an E50 in the EPC not an E420. The gentleman was asking around US$18K, I don't know if it sold or not.

According to the EPC the diff ratio in this car is 3.06:1 / HWA 210 350 02 14 - that with the 5 speed and 6 litre up front should equal quite impressive off the line performance.

I understand that all E60s started out as an E50. My E60 comes up as an E50 as well.

Oops my bad, I should have read the opening posts more carefully. Would this be the latest build date noted so far?

I really like that model, it's a Japan only E60 Limited Edition.

Wow. Just when you thought you've seen everything! :buggin:

Fudge, was this a "Japan Limited"? I never heard of any official factory W210 Limiteds from Germany.

I have no idea Dave, but it sounds like SilverStar knows a bit about them.

Yes it is Dave. Built by AMG Japan. I have actually seen more of these models than I have of E60's from Germany.

Looks like your car is still available, SilverStar...? It looks fantastic:

1997 Mercedes-Benz E60 AMG
This 1997 Mercedes-Benz E60 AMG left the factory as an E50 and was subsequently converted to E60 specifications, including the installation of widened fenders, E60 badging, and an AMG 6.0-liter M119 V8. The car was imported to Canada from Japan in 2012 and was purchased by the seller in 2015. Following approximately four years of storage, the car underwent a repaint in 2024 and additional work involved rebuilding the ABS pump and replacing the fuel pump relay, battery, tires, and headlight bulbs. It is finished in Polar White and equipment includes a five-speed automatic transmission, 18″ multi-piece AMG Monoblock wheels, AMG-specific bumper covers and side skirts, [aftermarket] xenon headlights, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Parktronic. Inside, heated front and rear seats are trimmed in black Exclusive leather and joined by wood veneer trim and a JVC CD stereo. This E60 AMG is now offered in Canada with Alberta registration in the seller’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in Polar White (149) with AMG bumper covers and side skirts and was fitted with widened front and rear fenders and E60 AMG badging during the conversion. A repaint was performed in June 2024 following repairs of hail damage on the hood, roof, and trunk lid, and photos taken during the work can be seen in the gallery. Additional equipment includes Avantgarde front fender badging, AMG-branded twin exhaust outlets, a power sunroof, xenon headlights with washers, and tinted rear windows. The windshield is cracked [and headliner is sagging].
Staggered-width multi-piece 18″ AMG Monoblock wheels were mounted with 245/40 front and 285/35 rear Lexani LXUHP-207 tires in September 2024. The car is equipped with the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Automatic Slip Control (ASR), [GSXR edit: It's unpossible to have both ESP and ASR. This car has ESP which is more advanced than ASR] and four-wheel disc brakes. The ABS pump was rebuilt and an alignment performed in 2024.
The heated front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in black Exclusive AMG leather, and burl wood trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional appointments include power-adjustable front seats with position memory as well as AMG-branded floor mats, an AMG-branded center console trim panel, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a JVC CD stereo. There are cracks in the dash.
A four-spoke steering wheel with burl wood and black leather trim frames a 300-km/h AMG-branded speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 149k kilometers (~92k miles), approximately 10k kilometers of which were added under current ownership.
The 6.0-liter M119 V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Work performed in 2024 following a four-year period of storage included flushing the coolant, changing the oil, and and replacing the battery and fuel pump relay. A photos of the engine stamping is provided in the gallery. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery.
The Carfax reports shows no accidents or other damage from the first entry in 2012.
The vehicle is being sold on its Alberta registration, which serves as the ownership document in Alberta, Canada.

Remaining photos below. Those aftermarket headlights hurt my eyes, as does the misalignment of the lights / trim panels / hood. Car was repainted but the windshield wasn't replaced?

Love these widebody 210s, especially with a 6L. Rare to see it in white also. Unfortunately, this car seems to have had owners unwilling to do/spend properly as noted. Cracked dash, headliner, lights, tires, radio. I don't find the seats in these cars that comfortable and these look sacked out.

Reading some of the very old posts on this thread about engine stamp and dates...I finally went through all the E60s I have the VIN and engine stamps of and came up with the following table. I along with everyone online have seen/heard "200" as the production number of these W210 E60 and although it's most likely impossible to find the exact number this should help.

DateAMG Stamp No.

Vehicle engine numbers are somewhat around each other when sorted by the vehicle delivery dates. You can start to see AMG engine numbers 146-157 towards the end of the production run of the E50 so total production might be a bit under 200 as the greatest engine number so far is 157. I've also heard 10 of the S210 E60 were produced which I think might be accurate as I've found around that many.

Seller posted that the car appraised in 2015 for $60k (I assume Canadian). Wonder how high the reserve is set.

Gentlemen, what's the reality of transplanting this engine into my 500E
It can be done, with some part swapping... need all four camshaft sprockets, front head covers, valve covers, distributors, plug wires, ETA, MAF from the 500E (or any donor M119.97x engine). And of course, the LH module for 6.0L engine. Might need some other little stuff I'm forgetting.

:apl:

Auction ended RNM at $15k. The less-than-stellar condition probably didn't help, neither did a Saturday auction close, nor Canada location.

Anyone in touch with the seller to find out what reserve was?

:detective:

So what’s the consensus for what a fair price might be? BAT bidding at $15,250 did not meet reserve.
