Yup. Need special lugs with M14 ball seat and M12 thread, in the correct length:

Correct. The fun part is determining "??". A few mm long up front is no problem, but you can't have the rears more than a few mm long or the bolts will hit parking brake internals. This is all part of the fun when you use non-standard wheels...
BTW, what is the width & offset of the wheels you are installing?
The front may fit but will look too far inset. The rears will most likely NOT fit without spacers. Plan on at least 12mm spacers up front and 15 to 20 mm spacers in back.
Really? I have been using this online calculator and it shows that I would have no issues. Actually, I have used this site before for my W108. I went with an ET11 wheel based on the info from this site. It fit exactly as described. 0.5inches away from the wheelwell.
I certainly don't doubt your information or experience. I know from your posts that you have been doing this for awhile. But, is there something that I am missing? Calculations? W124 nuances?

The calculators will not tell you when the "new" wheel combo will touch fixed parts on the car, like the strut tube up front, or the sway bar in the rear, etc.
Your setup won't hit the fenders because the wheels will be plenty inward, but you may have clearance issues on the inside. And, as Glen said, the wheels will be so far in they will look a bit odd, which is why he recommended spacers.

Yes, I did verify the offset at it looks like the rears will go inward about 1.75 inches and outward about half an inch. (according to the calculator) By looking under the car it looks like I have the room. Until I test fit them on the car I won't know for certain.
Fortunately it comes with new OEM tires which will allow me an accurate measurement.

I can guarantee you the the rears will not work without spacers. They may bolt up with the car off the ground but the tires will hit the inside wheel well when the suspension compresses. In front, the tire will be really close to the strut (or it might hit and not even let you bolt the wheel on). Stock clearance in front is only about 5 to 6mm from the tire to the strut. Sorry I didn't post more last night, I was on my phone and was too lazy to type all this out.
I think the best way to see if it works just to try them on. Usually estimates on paper look bad but in reality wheels work fine.
With the rear I tried ET46 and they work fine without any spacers.
For the front you should be ok, cuz I tried ET44 and had to use spacers at least 10 mm or 15 mm. Thus ET34 should be OK.
Anyway if you have a chance to try them , do it then and see what goes where.

Offset depends on the wheel width. Did you try ET46 on a 9.5-inch-wide wheel?

My Asanti has very aggressive offset of ET50 or something, but width is 11.5-11 so they work just perfect for the offset , but to wide for the body ...
For an AMG here is a specs.
Front wheels: OEM part number A2204010802, offset 44, 8.5JX18, tire (245/45/18)
Rear wheels: OEM part number A2204011902, offset 46, 9.5JX18, tire (275/40/18)
I agree. B ut I am also checking out a set of CLS wheels which have a different offset. Less aggressive.

It will be interesting to see how these fit as they are going to push out towards the fender. I will try to fit them tomorrow.
I took a look underneath the car today to get a feel of how much space there was between the inside rim and shock. The rear had about an inch and the front had much less. This should be fun!

Those are MORE aggressive, i.e. they will fill out the fender properly. These are a perfect fit. I've been looking for a set at a decent price but most sellers think they are gold plated. There are several different styles, btw. I would forget about the SL550 wheels and get these CLS wheels instead.
The fitment will be great and the fenders on our cars are made to be filled. You'll still have plenty of room in the front and slightly less room in the back, but both fenders will not be filled out all the way.

Agree with you, the best way to choose something from C219, R129, R230, W211, R170(but there are very few nice ones) and do not mess with spacers or any other things.

So I picked up a set of aftermarket bolts though I do not prefer use aftermarket stuff.
I guess all C219 wheels are perfect fitment not sure about C218

Well Roma... You are correct.
These rims are almost perfect. I still need a set of correct lug bolts. Im using a set from a W203. Not long enough but long enough to move to the curb. Ordering up a set that will arrive next week. Then its time to hit the local road courses for some summer trackday fun!

$500 with a set of tire that have until the end of summer. The owner was in need to get rid of and make space.

Yes, tires are in need of replace. In the rear, springs and Bilsteins shocks. Rides very nice!
18" CLS wheels fit our 036s perfectly? Why did I read this far into this thread? Must...resist...must...resist...
As mentioned before ALL R230 C219 , I tried some R170, W210 but the best are R129.
I dont have the lug bolts yet. Using a used set from my C32, I think. Not long enough. Im going to order from Otis in SoCal. They are closed for the holidays. I hope to get the lugs by Friday.

So... here are the wheels installed. Even though the offsets are good I never thought about the brake caliper. These wheels are so close that you cannot get any closer. It is actually too close for me. I am thinking of a thin spacer just to push it away. It isn't touching but.... its close.
The lug bolts are great! Otis in LA shipped it out right away and I got it in two days.
This chapter/thread is DONE! Time to start another thread.

I wouldn't be so concerned with the space between the caliper and the wheel. The space between my caliper and EVO wheels on the wagon is so close you couldn't fit a toothpick between them. Been running like that for over 5 years with no issues. (For future wheels candidate) What would be more of a concern to me is the possibility that another model wheel from the same gen car would actually hit the caliper.
Any chance you can take one more pic with the fronts straightened out?

Good eyes! It was not attached. No I am not planing to get the Euro Spec lights. Too much to spend. Would like them but...
