“251 - RADIO MB - EXQUISIT - USA“

Tried doing a search on this, but wasn’t able to find an answer.

I’ve heard conflicting sources about whether the Exquisit system was available for USA for facelift models. Looking at the Datacard for a USA 1994 model, it lists “251 - MB - EXQUISIT USA,” as well as “810 - SOUND SYSTEM.” But according to Becker Autosound, Exquisit was only for Euro models. Any help with this would be awesome.

Also, what was the 810 option?

All USA facelift models, on all 124 chassis, had the Becker 1492 head unit. Nothing else. Ignore what the datacard description shows.

810 is "Sound System", which includes the 3-driver rear speakers and dual amplifiers in the trunk. While it was standard equipment on all V8 sedans in USA, it was optional on non-V8 sedans.

Thanks for the help! I’d read what you’re saying in a few places, but the Datacard was confusing me. I can definitely note to ignore it. Any clue as to why the card has it listed that way?

Is there a sound quality difference between the 1492 systems and the Euro(?) Exquisit ones? And can the Exquisit units be dropped into USA models?

The data card just uses a "European" name for the Becker unit. As Dave said, all of the US models used the 1492, which is the Becker model number. Non-US cars had several options for sound systems, and "Exquisit" was one of the names that MB used to describe one of the options.
