Hello
I have a question
My car is smoking, and my mechanic suspect it might be related to the vacuum pump and the trans oil is going to the intake
My question is does the transmission need to be removed or taken down to change the vacuum pump?
The car is 300ce24 5 speed automatic

Thanks

There is no vacuum pump. I think your mechanic is referring to the vacuum modulator on the transmission. If this fails, engine vacuum can pull ATF into the engine where it is burned and will cause smoke. You'll also lose ATF. There should be traces of ATF in the vacuum line from the modulator to the intake manifold.

The modulator can be replaced without taking the transmission out of the car.

Vacuum pump is on the engine, not the trans .. no need to remove the transmission. Check the pump and lines first; ATF in the intake is usually from a failed diaphragm.

There is no vacuum pump on the gasoline engines, only on diesel engines. But yes, ATF in the intake will be from a failed modulator.
