The wheel size/offsets above are near perfect for the 500E. The rear is slightly aggressive.

However the front tire size is smaller than normal... should be 245 front matched with 275 rear.

This is the set listed recently on MBMarket, ended RNM / BidTo... link here.

what about 19x8.5 et25 and 19x10 et28 on a 500E? from CLS63

@TOPnotch55,
If you intend to drive on the street I think you’ll be disappointed with a 19” Rim & Tire setup. It is IMOP and others on this board that 19s will give you a pretty rough ride. If all you do is show the car 19s would be OK some really look nice but for a daily driver I’d stay away from them.

I run 18s w/ 245s & 275s Michelin Super Sports. This is my second set of Michelins and I’m due for another set. The 1st set came w/ the takeoff wheels from a 2004 SL500 and the sizes were 255s & 285s and rode much harder and got noisier as they aged. I got rid of them at 25K miles and went down 1 size on the 2nd set. Due to better tire technology the Super Sports were perfect. I would expect no less and an even better ride from a new set.

Anyway, whatever you decide buy a premium set of tires. Michelin or Continental or equivalent. Cheap tires won’t help the ride.

Choose Wisely

18's look good on the E500E because the fender opening is slightly larger, AND shaped slightly different, vs standard 124 fenders. This is why the 500E can generally use 1" larger diameter wheels vs standard 124 (just like the stock factory wheels were 1" larger vs standard 124).

I personally have 17's and 18's on my 500E's, but my standard 124's generally have 16's (one on 17's).

:nos:

Same wheels but with 245/40-18s on the front and 275/35-18s on rear.:)
i had same setup in the rear when i bought the car but the rear wheel well looked a little bit shallow, and i went with 275/45, i like it better, it looks more filled up and beefy

I finally got mine dialed in today. Very happy with how it turned out.
I've been desperately trying to get my 94 E500 to have the same stance, with no luck :(

Please tell me what you've done to dial the car in! I am currently running the same 18" BBS 2 piece wheels, dasautoganz e60 amg replica springs with 1 bump pads, and have lowered the SLS as far as I can, but there is still roughly twice the amount of height as you have there. The only way I can get that low is by removing the springs completely... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First photo is with the dasautoganz springs installed (~24 hours after installation), second is with no springs installed whatsoever (just held up with SLS struts).

Something isn't right with either your springs or your SLS adjustment.

Less likely, but possibly affecting the issue, would be if rear suspension links were replaced and the mounting bolts were tightened with the car in the air (rear suspension fully extended). If the links are original / untouched, this probably isn't what's going on.

You do NOT want it as low as it is with no springs, for myriad reasons. But, you should be able to get it lower than your photo with the springs installed.

Get measurements to quantify what you're dealing with here. From fender lip to wheel center, a stock 036 is typically around 14.5" (will vary about 0.5" between full tank of fuel vs empty tank). Typical "lowered" will be around 14.0". I'd estimate based on cbreez's photo that you are aiming a bit below this for "stance", maybe 13.75-13.50" (trust me, you don't want to go lower). I'd also estimate that your current too-tall setup is near stock 14.5" if not a bit higher. The wheel/tire size is irrelevant, measuring from fender the wheel/hub center eliminates the wheel as a variable.

Tip: After changing anything with springs or SLS, you MUST drive the car to settle the suspension. Just lowered off the rack/lift, it will sit higher than normal. Driving a mile or so around the block will get it to normal position. Assuming the rear LCA's are disconnected to R&R the springs, you also must not tighten the inner LCA bolt without the suspension in ready-to-drive position (very difficult without a 4-post lift). Otherwise this will also push the ride height upward a bit.

Can you measure the E60 AMG replica springs, if they are removed from the car again? I'm curious if they are in spec or not. You need the free length, wire diameter (use calipers), and number of coils end to end. Factory springs should be approximately 13.6-13.8" free length, 16.45-16.55mm wire diameter, and 9.9 coils.
