Could it be that these dudes stumbled upon making the best looking resto mod car on the planet?

I don’t Like the Singer effort a whole lot and I find the Lancia Delta Integrale by Automobili Amos only mildly intriguing but THIS 928 interpretation is amazing in my opinion! Idiotic price point, but nevertheless an amazing looking car

When I first saw this 928, I thought it was creative photography of model car... Truly amazing work on this car! As for Lancia, how about The Kimera Automobili EVO37? I love that restomod creation too!
Regards,
D

I like it! With exception to the missing headlight back cover, an impressive effort.
These valuable but not preserved cars should be considered for Restomod. I am seeing more here in Europe, like bagged W124s and track-prep 190Es

I tend to only focus on the business end of restomod cars (drivetrain and suspension), but this one makes me think more broadly about the concept. I don't suppose there's any reason to stop with drivetrain and suspension, actually. Good stuff. I mean, this is going to be more powerful AND a lot lighter.

I love this! Not sure about the smoke silver color though....

@TimL, Great looking car! They really brought it into 2022. I like the clean looking interior, love the 18” wheels and I would suspect w/ 400HP that it performs as good as it looks. Personally, at $400K I don’t think I’ll be purchasing one anytime soon though.

PS: I know this is about the Retro-Porsche but did anyone notice the video on the Mercedes-AMG One? It may be familiar to some of you but it’s a first for me. You can trade in 5 of the $400K Porsches for one AMG One. It looks fantastic to me w/ a F1 engine and 4 Electric motors all making 1,049HP. Mercedes’ is going to make 275 copies and there all sold already. Chances of seeing one is slim to none but I’ll be looking.

Thanks for the article Tim:thumbsup2:

same here Terry- at $400k it will remain in the land of fantasy for me and that’s ok. Folks like you and I will just have to enjoy our modest 500 E in the meantime 😉👍🏽

I guess people got bored of this story because of years of delays in the project and ridiculous compromises (e.g 50k km drive train). In contrast the CLK-GTR toke only 4 months from decision to first track tests. 275 units seems a high number for a 1.4M EURO Hypercars.. that's almost double the number of Factory E60 AMG made.

Hand built is always a heavy lift. Think about it — had Porsche not been about to lay people off we might not have ANY E60 AMG cars. Post WWII car companies simply don’t hand build cars, unless they sell for crazy money to make up for the inherent inefficiency. At 275 units, figure the machines have to be at least twice as efficient + $1.4M relieves any accounting barriers. What’s really silly is those 275 will likely fetch several multiples of that number at auction later.

Pretty much agree on all points. I've always liked the 928 and this one seems very well executed.
The first inklings of the AMG One were like 5 years ago... so I just assumed it was out and I'd never see one because... a) too rare and b) not being sold in USA.

But there is this... and it falls into sort of the same category. As seen at this year's Sandhills Motoring Festival.

I’d like to see it in Black or Red. Better yet in my garage! :jono:
In the garage, wouldn't that be nice? What's amazing, the car was designed in this basic form in the 70's and with few styling upgrades, still looks amazing today!

Color wise, I would indeed like to see how it looks in alternate colors, however, I'm a sucker for the "metallic urine" :yayo: I will be purchasing my father's W211 ;)

I recently found a replacement for my injured E430, in "smoke urine". I'm reattracted to the color once more as it looks VERY nice when fresh.

I really like this 928. My biggest problem with the original has always been the interior. Too much 80s for me.

Here's one. I haven't done anything yet but bring it home, but it will end up an E55 clone in all but the engine. Now I have someone wanting to nearly GIVE me a high milage engine as well. I know I speak the mind of many here when I say folks, I need a shop.

Drew, love this color combo! One of of my friends had one, exact the same color combo, she loved it and had it for a while (eventually surrendering to almighty Prius). It's quiet, comfortable, plenty of power out of m113 for a daily. And you are spot on "when fresh", clean and waxed, looked really nice, but can look a little on the "dull/boring" side otherwise.

I'm going to slide this restomod 914 in here... I'm in love!!!

One can only think of the glorious singer 911s, some Jaguar E-types or this BMW E30 M3. These vehicles are also highly sought after, expensive classics in their original form. But what actually happens when you spice up an oldie to the perfect show and entertainment object, that no one really wants?
Fifteen Eleven Design, based near Sheffield, England, took the experiment and turned the previously unloved Porsche 914 into an old-school new car with monstrous effort. Just three years after the first announcement, the final version of the car is now ready for mass production. Order books are open.
FED says they married the mid-engine targa to a 987 Porsche Cayman S. Its mid-engine boxer finally delivers the perfect Porsche soundtrack. However, the unit was heavily dealt with. The builder is talking about a 3.8-liter boxer, which didn’t exist in 987. There, 3.4 liter engine was the highest feeling.
Supposedly the engine capacity has been expanded. Enhanced the interior life of the engine, installed forged pistons and an engine mapping and power management system from Life Racing. The power should range from 380 to 400 hp. More than triple the original 914 output. Machine is coupled with a 6 speed manual.
The 914 chassis has been core rehabbed to make it all drive sane. Among other things, stiffness was worked on and the suspension was adjusted to accommodate the chassis architecture of the Cayman. The suspension itself is a triple adjustable thread solution from Reiger. The parts are usually found in World Rally Championship cars.
Braking done on four piston brembo porsche saddles. Inside the driver foot is an ap racing pedal box with stand up pedals. The car is on 18" fox rims with Michelin PS2 tires. The stainless steel exhaust pipe is a custom build.
The body parts are made of carbon fiber and on top of that a good bit wider than the original. The front hood and bumper had to be adjusted to accommodate the engine and oil cooler. Fans of flapping headlights may be upset that the original lights on the Restomod-914 are no longer available. Instead, the FED is using LED headlights and "mobydick-style" daytime running lights.
In the interior, they have largely insisted on keeping the original's original. But of course not, without significantly increasing the degree of luxury in the materials. Plenty of leather and Recaro seats create a simple yet sophisticated atmosphere. The builder also adjusted the footroom to allow for more leg freedom.
Every new 914 by Fifteen Eleven Design is built entirely to the customer's specifications. The car can be ordered as left or right hand drive. Even though we have gotten used to dizzying prices at Restomods, the sum called for this creation just causes a few frowns. 350,000 British pounds wants the FED to have for their 914. That’s just under 409.000 Euros.

We don't want to ignore, for top-class 914s in the original state, more than 100,000 Euros are currently being called. But it should be exciting to observe how much customer potential there is for a modern interpretation that costs four times (or well 100,000 euros more than a fairly fully equipped 911 GT3 RS)."
