I just finish restoring my 500e . It sat for almost 5 years with restoration . All is good with the benz but the abs and asr light turns on when car moves forward. Check the Black Box fuses and all is good. When i start it go on reverse the ligbt does not go on but when put in drive and starts moving forward both asr and abs tur s on. It seems does not go limp mode. I tried scan it using break out box and seems not giving any code on pin#6 . Pls help. Thank you

If you get codes (a single blink indicating 'no fault' is OK) on ALL other modules except pin #6, my guess is there's no communication with the ASR module.

1) Check the part number of your ASR module, make sure it's correct for your car
2) Double check all fuses (verify power to ASR module)
3) Double check that socket #6 is clean / not corroded
4) Try a different / spare ASR module

:detective:

BTW, when the lights turn on when driving forward, my guess would be a bad signal from one of the 4 wheel speed sensors. But, you need fault codes to figure out which one.

What about tires? Do different circumferences cause active ASR light?

Yes, definitely! For reasons I can't now exactly recall, at one time I had different sized front and rear tyres. Although I chose the sizes so that technically the rolling circumference were within the (I believe - someone may put me right?) acceptable
tolerance of 2%, under heavy acceleration the ABS/ASR/limp mode would kick off.

Hi 500e friends. I was able to get code on the breakout box pin #6 . Abs and asr light on it blinked 10 times . I check the pdf gudie for the codes . 500e with asr and abs pin#6 10 blinks says "abs asr hydrolic unit high pressure / re run pump pump relay . " just make sure i cleared code and.move cra forward and asr abs on again and confirmed 10 blinks on pin#6 . On you knowledge opinin do u think it the relay or pump. I was hoping would be a sensor. . Thanks again .

ASR (pin 6) code #10 would be:

ABS/ASR hydraulic unit, high-pressure/return pump relay (A7/3k2)
*or*
ABS/ASR hydraulic unit, high-pressure/return pump (A7/3m1)

In the old post linked below, simply disconnecting the battery for a while cured the problem for Cossie (don't get your hopes up though):

For Christian_K, he had to replace the ASR hydraulic unit:

This will be difficult to troubleshoot without SDS / HHT-Win to access live data and maybe run activation tests. Another long shot would be performing a pressure bleed / brake fluid replacement to see if that knocks anything loose inside the ASR unit before messing with replacement.

Had the same problem,
Asr and abs light on.... thought it gonna be expensive, relais and so on...
New brake light contact and everything is solved, 30 euros..so happy..
