AC - Control Unit (with the switches) acting strange

Got our E500 packed today for our road trip. AC is acting strange. Had to refill 700g of fluid. Runs cold now. Controller is acting strange
- When I start the car it takes a few seconds till the lights come on on the air drying setting (is my default)
- When I'm on air drying and press air-recycling then the light on the air drying setting goes off, the recycling switch goes on and then switches off again and puts on air drying. in the other modes (AC off (i.e. EC light is on) and AC on) it works fine

I don't know how to upload a video here. But any thoughts. I'm contemplating to swap the control unit with the switches against one from my other cars, but would hate to do it if I have the same issues (Again my wife does not like me borrowing parts from our other cars)

Not sure what the air-drying mode is. Do you have manual climate control? We never got that on this side of the pond, all our cars are ACC.
