WANTED Air flow meter (MAF) - in Europe

Try Googling and searching via eBay specific part number for your MAF.

Usually there are more of them on ebay.com in USA - not too many at decent prices within Europe.

As you probably know, any used unit is a gamble unless the seller has tested it in a car and viewed live data on a digital scanner. Returning one from overseas may not be worth the shipping expense.

Not to scare anyone, but I bought a used one last year (as a spare for the hoard, lol) and tested it in my E420. Worked great. Left it in for a couple weeks, and 100 miles later it died... fully dead, stuck at 1.20 volts / 4kg reading. This was after the return window had closed of course. Sigh... win some, lose some...

It was way too late (my fault). I bought it in May 2020, did a quick test on the car (worked fine), then put it on the shelf. Six months later I popped it into an E420 for a long-term test, and that's when it died after ~100 miles / 2 weeks. If we can ever find a place that rebuilds these things, at least it's a good core.

Prior to this I had usually just done the quick test (install in car, view live data on SDS at varying RPM's for maybe 5 minutes, plus a burnoff test). Now I plan to try and test my spare MAF's in a car for at least 500 miles or so each. @gerryvz , you may want to do the same. With a fresh rubber boot and the 7mm flex driver, I can swap MAF's in under 5 minutes, hood up to hood down. Fortunately, if the MAF dies, the car will still drive ok, won't leave you stranded.

What about a used MAF?

I have an unneeded MAF from a 90K mile ‘92 400E that was reportedly running well on it’s way to the minor front end hit that turned it into a gold-mine parts car 10 years ago.

1 year ago I swapped it into my 420 for ~2 weeks/500 miles without any suspicious behavior, and it has sat on the shelf since.

I am willing to send it CONUS, and WAIT for payment with the understanding that (unlike old LL’s promise) after some FINITE length of time, the buyer will decide they are satisfied, and the deal is done...

How long?
