Airbags in steering wheels

Hi,
I am thinking about having the first steering wheel (I would have finished in gray leather) replace my current steering wheel (The sport one, I'd like to keep).
Can anyone tell me if the airbags are the same and if the current airbag can take place in the new sterring wheel
Thanks
Alex

Not sure what you mean...? The airbags are functionally the same, but shaped differently so you can't swap them between steering wheels - they won't fit.

Looking a bit more carefully at the wheel structure, I have just realized my question was a bit stupid : I though the airbag was in the central circle we can see in every wheel. But in fact it seems the airbag is in the central padding of the wheel. And as the central padding are not the same shape, they obviously don't exchange...
As I had never opened my steering wheel, I didn't know.
Thanks,
Alex

Ah, got it. Glad you have it figured out now. Yup, the airbag is that entire "middle" section. You can swap the entire wheel+airbag without problems, unless you are trying to install an early steering wheel into a 1994-up car, that won't work.

:watermelon:

The sport wheel Alex shows in the 2nd picture has a tag below it reading SL R 129. Did these wheels come on any SLs?

Yes, I believe some R129's in the early 90's had this wheel, probably circa 93-95.

Nice! I'll have to keep watch of any being parted out. I'm seeing more of these in my area lately.
