AMG GT vs Aston Martin DBS

Was watching James Bond, Quantum of Solace, over the weekend and really liked the Aston Martin DBS. So, did some online searching and saw that the 2009-2010 DBS is very similar in price point to the 2016-2017 AMG GT. Is this because the Aston is a really great car or is it because of the large depreciation of the Mercedes? Curious if anyone has driven both and their thoughts. Eric

The DBS was a $250-300K car when new. They now sell for $80 to 100K. The Asks are always much higher, but nobody is buying an old A-M without researching the heck out of the market and doing their due diligence on maintenance history and cost of future repairs.

The AMG GT S was a $150K car and now they change hands for less than half that.

Both cars have horrific depreciation. But I think that Aston is traditionally considered to be the absolute worst.

I don't know anything about a DBS or an AMG GT. I do know a little about the V8 Vantage and an SL55. While the Vantage is a thing of beauty to look at, the SL55 is 10 times the car.

I've driven the AMG GT R on the track, but I haven't driven the DBS and so can't compare.

As to how the AMG GT R drives, well, about what you'd think for a GT car:

- it's fast, but not scary fast
- it handles very well, but not race car well
- interior seems like it could be livable in the day to day (as a GT car should be)
- brakes are strong enough to be borderline pull-your-face off

We service a couple of GT's and I've been following the market closely as I see a LOT of value in a car that AMG has Killed the value on. If you hunt around I just watched a Very nice 2017 with a nice set of options and around 6K miles sell for 68K.

Get a GT/GTS w/ the designo interior, don't waste your $$ on carbon brakes....the active suspension/engine mounts are Neat but $$$ when it breaks.

Roll a tune and a set of downpipes once you get used to the power...

The DBS is sexy don't get me wrong, but they have a Horrid reputation for repairs and dealing with the Dealers is equally as horrid per some of my clients...

High bid of $75K (78,750 all in) and this one didn't sell.
