The Savant I bought the 90 300 TE from somehow broke both of the plastic hooks that secure tge door pull to the door frame. Has screws through the pull into the door frame. Just getting to things like this on the car and found out what was up with the pull.

Also check inside the door if the broken pieces of black hooks are still there. If so, you may be able to epoxy them back together with some metal reinforcement.

Either way, use lots of screws and large-diameter fender washers to attach the handle/pull to the door card.

Can make do for a while with screws and washers but want to get a permanent solution. Haven't thought that the hooks may be broken off and in the bottom of the door, if I cant find a pull soon may pull the door panel and take a look. Was hoping to not have to pull the panel but once so prefer to just find another pull or complete matching door panel.
While I have the door panel off what all do I need to do in lubing the window regulator and other things. In particular what kind of grease will stay in place and not dry up for the regulator and also anything for the window tracks.

The main problem is the hooks. When you pull on the handle, if the hooks are broken, all you are doing is yanking on the door card. The hooks, when intact, transfer all the pulling action directly to the metal door frame.

Any light grease should be ok for the regulator. I use Gleitpaste.

Thanks on the grease tip. Yes I understand on the hooks and how they work that's why I really want to find another door pull if I can. As of now all I have are 2 sheet metal screws into the door frame to pull on. At least the front part has a 10mm bolt into a metal strap and into a metal bracket so I will use it to pull on to shut the door.

Anybody here know anything about these folks?
Adsit has been around forever, although years ago their return policy was hideous - they would make you pay for shipping both ways if returning an item, EVEN IF IT WAS THEIR FAULT (i.e., wrong item sent). I don't know if they still do this. There was a thread on PeachParts discussing this, maybe 10-15 years ago.

That said, there's no way in hell I'd pay $165 plus shipping for a USED armrest / handle. Gotta be some available on eBay for less. Or raid your local junkyard. Buy any color, spray it Palomino. All you care about are 2 good hooks.

The armrest may be available new from looking up the part number and will make a call later today on it. Thanks for the tip on their return policy and there is no way I would pay that for used. New maybe but not used.

What was the answer on your call? Is palomino available new?

Following up on Dave’s comments I’ve successfully glued a couple of broken door clips back together. Your best bet is to find a donor door panel or map pocket with 2 intact clips. Use a dremel to cut off the clip ends to size and also trim your stubs so you have 2 flat services to mate together. I used a 2 part epoxy to bond the pieces together. Its important to gauge the length of the finished clip so it’s not too short or long.

Regards,
Peter

Adsitco is good for NOS parts in my experience; sometimes you can get really lucky. They charge a premium though - and thankfully I've never had to deal with them w/ regards to returns.

Just noticed this post is from March! If you still need something @Ascension let me know. I may be able to help (details below)

There's a 1995 E300D at the local junkyard which has a palomino interior and I can grab the drivers door card and/or that armrest if you need it (are the armrests on door interchangeable with coupe?). I recently grabbed the gilled diesel fender, the cluster, and some other parts. The palomino on the plastic parts seems to be a little darker than what is in my car (1987).

There's also a coupe there at the same junkyard... appears to have alpaca gray for the interior though (and I don't know what shape it's in; just came in this week). It's getting to be the fun time of the year at junkyards as the summer begins here in Phoenix. It got up to 104F (basically 40C) on the day I was there last weekend

That 1995 E300 (WDBEB31E6SC258602) has leather Saddle interior, not Palomino. Saddle was only used on facelift 124's, 1994-95 USA model years, and it's substantially darker than Palomino. I *really* like the Saddle color, bummer it's so rare. This would be a cool upgrade to the 87 300D but you'd need the entire, complete interior - lots of work, and with ~275kmi it might not be in great shape. Snag the flip-top armrest if present and in good condition. The 90L fuel tank is worth removing if the yard didn't puncture it... also the trunk carpet liners, all of which are unique to the 90L tank. This is another neat upgrade for the 300D.

Also - that E300 is a "Special Edition"... main indicator is the walnut wood, also it's 009 Sapphire Black. And it has the Sound System... and memory driver seat... all optional equipment for that year/model. The SE should have stainless steel door trim plates (glued on top of the plastic trims), another score if present.

Is the trunk liner same color on all models?

Ah- yeah that one is 1995 E300D - I'm not sure how great of shape the trunk liners are in now though. I can definitely check out next time there's something new and I'm out that way
