This mirror has a self blinking alarm LED (no need to hook it up to existing alarm) and a hidden amber colored compass. You also have the option of turning the compass on/off and when off, the display is not visible. The alarm LED functions without the need to be connected to a existing alarm, you also don't even need to have an alarm in your vehicle. Hook up is just as easy as the other mirror variants, you just have one extra wire that needs to be connected to constant 12volt power (which you can tap into at your map light). Other wires are switched 12 volt from the sunroof switch and ground.
