Aux (radiator) Fan Relay Fuse

I happened to notice that the epc appears to be calling for a 40A fuse in the ice cube relay for the high stage aux (radiator) fans from 1994.

Am I reading this right or is the 40A rating referring to the relay--not the fuse?

:wtf:

Thanks, Clark. I don't think I've ever seen a 40A blade fuse like that.

I have not seen one myself Jon. If you get one, post a pic.

By that I mean the updated relay for our cars

I've seen the 40 amp blade fuse on later K40 relays.

OK, after further review................ the fuse is still 30 amp

I'm guessing they rate the relay at 40 amps, but when you click on the fuse it's a 30 still.

The fuel pump relay still says 30 amp. No 40 amp fuse listed

F$#ing Mercedes EPC.

Some ofthe late cars have the orange 40A relay with, I believe, a 40A fuse. Need to see if I have one loose to get a better photo:

NOTE: Maxi fuses are physically larger, and are primarily used for ratings 40A and higher. The cube relays are smaller than the Maxi fuse.

Yes know about the maxi fuses, that what the K40 relay uses.

That's why I posted the second image of the ATC amp fuses, which are what the relay uses.

I've never seen a 40 amp orange relay in a w124 from the factory.

And the EPC does not show a amp fuse.

Post more documentation on that, it's news to me.

Here we go.............

And that is the correct part# in the EPC....001-542-9719

MB must have updated the relay. Odd they don't list a fuse to go with the relay like the other 2.

Yeah! That's the one. Thanks for posting the photos, Clark.

I've seen the orange relay in at least one of my 94-95 cars, but I have no clue if it was factory or not.

Glad to contribute, I've seen some great pics that you post too.

Thanks to Jon too for posting this thread, good heads up for members that need a high relay.

Get the 40 amp, the 30 has been superseded.

Thanks to both of you guys. I'll have a few of these on my next order. I actually did blow the 30A high-stage fuse a few years ago on a really hot (118F) day, so it would be good to have the extra protection. I guess they figured the relay and wiring could handle 40A. I went to O'Rielly's today but the only 40A blade fuse I could find was the bigger maxi fuses.

Interesting fuses. Thank you, guys! This thread saved up our day. It did helped my husband identify what he wanted. Lol.
