Mechanically now all works, but I had an issue with the starter motor, the distance plates were to thin and the starter gets entgaged and makes current, now with 80-100 Km/h not bad... now I have a crismass-tree on the dash-board, all lights on! The alternator functions now with a new voltage regulator but the controll light is still red!!!!???? Perhabs a elektric wire burned or??????
At this moment I controlled the basic module and saw that of the 4 10 A fuses there were only 3 the 4-th wasn't there? What do this one do?
Tumorrow i will trie to cancell with the LED-signal-tester all errors and then we see?
I saw in the charging sistem is a capacitator, where and what is his use?

We get nearer but I am sick to repair home-made problems!

Congratulations! Can't wait to see videos and more pictures. And of course, please describe how it drives :-)

Hi , here the first runs of the car. It works good, have to make a little more space between tunnel and gearbox, her is some noise trasnmission on the chassis bit it goes very fast on the limiter (140km/h in 2°) or 1500 revs in 5° on 100km/h. We are getting close to the end.

Congratulations Pagodino! Well done. I know many of us have envisioned that conversion, but very, very few have actually done it.

Rgds,

LinkedIn can be an awesome resource,

Their are actually groups for retires. But recruiters etc whom pay can send them notes. I'd hit that or look for older bosch ppl in German. Yes, need a someone whom is good with German.

Other thing I have suggested in the past- Find the SAE Journal articles pertaining to the M119, Cam timing and injection. The authors of those papers maybe reachable. I bet when you find/contact one.. you will find many.

We need some Bosch people from the late 1980's and early 1990's, who were involved in the Bosch LH v4 development (this is the engine management system on the 500E). Preferably someone who can help translate the EPROM code!

Pagodino,

Do you have any pictures showing how you centered the housing before you grafted (welded) it to the plate and how you kept everything centered?

Thanks

WOW - nice job!! I saw the F/B pictures. What does a homemade flywheel mean? Does that mean you machined at home or modified another?
It'd be great to see some dimensions of the adaptors you built and the chopped off bell housing? Following a recipe would be really great, instead of re-engineering everything.

I've been enjoying a hot rod project lately and installed an GM L92 engine and 6L80 transmission in to an old for pickup. That's GM's latest 6.2liter all aluminum truck / SUV LS engine with 405 horse and 420 ft lbs with a 6 speed. I mention here as the bell housing is removable from the transmission unit itself. It appears a good 6 speed auto box conversion candidate, though dimensionally it may require modification to the trans tunnel. Cutting and welding the bell housing would seem a potential solution.
I'd like to do that project one day.
Also....aftermarket controllers for that transmission are available.
Forgive me if this is too far off topic.

Great job once again! Any snaps of the interior?

Bump? Any more videos? Any info on kits??

What it ever confirmed which 6 speed transmission was put in the Renntech light blue, custom interior 500e?
Was it out of a 6 speed 850csi?

You guys are all trying to mod a 500E and make it manual. I on the other hand have a e420 motor with 51K on it and a 1988 300ce that I made 5speed (not gatrag) I hate the 3L straight six because of the fuel injection spider web design and insufficient power. Im a mechanic and I do all work my self. Im not worried about the electrical issues either. The motor sits in a car 1994 e420 with 51K so I can take the whole suspencion front to back also Only I think I would have to cut the e420 shaft and change the thing that the shaft bolts onto on the trany. That part on the trany that in my case has 3 bolts going throught it to attach the shaft and the e420 has 4 bolts. I do have a automatic e420 trany I can harvest that part from I hope it will fit. Second is the bell housing. I hear alot how the e320 and e420 have same trany but I dont believe that bell housing is same. I know I would need to make a plate and also move the fly wheel out whatever thickness the plate will be. Problem is I dont think the flywheel will bolt up to the v8 and someone would need to make me one. This means I would have to know the position of the flywheel on a L6 engine and I would simply need to remove my engine or trany from the 300E for that. :( :( lots of work. Also my 500e has a bad trany and Im putting the 420 trany in it. I figure 51K on it and it will bolt up nicelly. Plus I think now it wil start from 1st ? not 2nd? I heard peopel actualy install 400e tranys on 500e for performance gains. true?

Not entirely correct. People install the USA-spec 400E valve body into the 500E transmission to get full-time first-gear start. The transmissions are otherwise basically identical, there is no other advantage...

I will install a e420 trany in the 500e but I will keep the original in case when I decide to sell it someone can swap the internals and put original it so numbers match. For me I dont care I rather have a factory sealed 51K mile not matching number trany in the car.
