Blower Motor Part No.

Hi. My car is a '94 (Japan) with the climate control (one temp dial +buttons) and I can't seem to get confirmation on the part number to replace the blower motor. Mercedes says there are 5 possibilities...

Huh? There are only 2 blower motors for the main climate control blower, underneath the windshield wiper. Either early or late, with the break happening with the facelift. Or more technically, with or without dust filter (which should have happened with the facelift).

Per the datacard for your car, it has code 305 (Dust Filter), which means it should use blower p/n 124-820-06-08 .

Is it 124-820-06-08 or 124-830-06-08?
The crappy thing about facelift models is that you can't just buy a blower motor and move the squirrel cages from the old one to the new one.

D'oh! Typo... should be 124-820-06-08. Previous posts edited.

This isn't really an issue... removing 20+ year old plastic cages from a 20+ year old motor that likely has corroded shafts is mostly an exercise in futility. I had to do this once on a new motor which had the cages installed backwards and it was a RPITA. It's not worth the cost savings, IMO, even on the early setups where you can buy a replacement Bosch motor without the cages. If you are going to attempt this, be prepared to have to shell out for a new motor if you break either plastic cage.

Thanks. I was told to get 0008308208 which turned up and was too big!!
Yep, that is the early motor... the cages are physically larger, and the wiring connections are different. No fittee.

I don’t want to admit to this as I will most likely be shamed but I put an early Bosch motor in my 94 E420. I clipped the wires from my old motor, crimped on connectors and made the required adaptor. It took a while but my cages came off and went on the new motor just fine. I had to mess with centering my cages in the plastic housing but that was not bad. The shafts on the early motor are longer than the late motor but did not seem to be an issue. The swap was done back in October and it is quite and works just fine.

What do you think guys....should we shame him, or ban him?!?

Here in Hotlanta those cages usually shatter when trying to swap them...even using heat on the cage/chilling the shaft...:(
Every time I hear of someone successfully doing the cage swap... I scratch my head and wonder, "how the HECK did they DO that?"
