Bottom Gear

I am starting this thread to keep everyone abreast (or two) of the TV show. And to gather stories that may, or may not, appear.
If this is out of place, Gerry, Dave or Jelmer, please remove it.
The working title is Bottom Gear, that will change as it cannot be used with some very expensive royalties paid to Clarkson and the BBC.

As of now the beginning will start off with something like....
"A 1967 Ferrari NART Spyder sold $27.5 Million. A 1962 Ferrari GTO - $52 Million. This show has nothing to do with any of that. We are scraping the bottom of the proverbial oil barrel with stories about the average clueless enthusiast. A place where Trickery, Fraud and Deceit are not merely crimes, but selling points! If these stores are not true, they should be. This weeks show will feature:"

Every stereotype known to man, and some not, will be featured. Old grey haired guys with sports cars hitting on young usually blonde chicks, courtroom antics, fake cars being passed off as real, $100,000 rebuilds of $20,000 cars, Police encounters, Russian dash cams, salesmen, women drivers, the list is endless. If there's someone who is not offended then I am not trying hard enough.

Well, after a month of meeting and working 18 hours per day I am happy to say progress has been made...
Official title of the show is "Piston Broke."

Had to be signed off by everyone and their sister-in-law but it was. It's amazing the amount of wasted time that goes into the most trivial of details but no one forced me into this. Just frusterated as I am use to making decisions and going with them, success or fail. But now I am responsible for OPM (other people's money) so it's probably not unreasonable.
I can truly see why everyone wants to become rich, it frees one up from the anality of someone else's behavior.
I will answer all the PM's and email's that I received in my absence ASAP.

Kind regards,

Ron

Ron I cant tell if this TV show is real and going to happen or this whole thing is another one of your jokes ?

Either way congrats and I cant wait to see more !.

I b'lieve Ron is serious as a heart attack on this one. Nitroglycerin pills included at no charge.

:duck:

"I never joke about my work" - Major Boothroyd, aka Q from the 007 novels and motion pictures.

It's real.
Will it happen? Yes.
Will it air? Who knows?
The bin is filled with expensively produced pilots and shows that never have seen, or will ever see, the light of day. People get paid but if the advertisers don't jump on board no one will waste air time on something that they can't recoup their investment.
Sometimes things are bought because they are good, sometimes because someone doesn't want anyone else to have it.
When the sales people start contacting the advertisers THEN we will know it's fate. The problem, as I see it, is that it's too politically incorrect as someone, somewhere, will be offended by it. If I can get it on for 2 seasons (26 episodes) I think we could achieve and maintain a following. The problem is each episode is north of 7 figures to produce, and that's a lot of advertising dollars to commit to an untried product.
Look at "Top Gear" it's in 170 different countries, and they all pay a royalty to the BBC, some are great, most are not and will be dropped. But, even if dropped, the BBC will still get it's cut.
It's a strange business and I can truly see why there is so much drug/alcohol use. Meetings frequently end up in shouting matches with every racial, religious and ethnic insult known to man, and in every language no less, hurled about like prayers at the Vatican on Easter Sunday. Since lying violates one of the 10 Commandments I feel that there is a market for, instead of personal trainers for example, personal Priests, Minister's or Rabbi's. They would get used on a daily, if not hourly, basis.

Kind Regards,

Ron

Lemme know when you start auditioning for presenters. :D

Are you going to give Banzworld 126 forum credit, or name Tootone, Bondavi, McClare and cascade as inspirations for some of the episodes?

Happy to Dave.
Please post a pic of you in a tight short skirt for consideration.

Thanks,

Ron

I knew Dave spent time at the drags. Was I wrong to assume that only involved racing?

Dave could always wear a Utilikilt ......

That would be hotter than high school love...

On that subject, the utilikilt gives a new twist to the phrase "bottom gear"...

I speak with him on Facebook every now and then. He is quite busy and said he'd be back here when he gets a chance to come up for air.

I can't wait for his Bottom Gear episodes to air, particularly the ones that allude to the shenanigans of the Banzworld 126 crowd that I've documented here in the past. I wonder if they'll actually sue him as they threatened to do last year.
