hi I have a brembo brake caliper on my 500e 1992 noise comes from the driver's side front I have changed discs and brakes but the sound came back after a few weeks have read around a bit and it is probably brembo caliper which is made of aluminum and thats does the noise ..... so my question is I want to change my calipers to ate the question is does the caliper fit from a 500sl 129? have read that it should also fit from a 300td 124?

my disc are front 300mm and back 278mm

Yes, the early R129 calipers will work, if the R129 also had 300x28mm front brakes. The iron Ate calipers are a direct replacement. Your old Brembos are fairly valuable to the W201 crowd, if you want to re-sell them.

Any diesel 124 calipers WILL NOT fit, not sure where you read that, but it's incorrect.

Ok thanks for the answer do you know if early 500sl rear calipers should also fit? yes I have read that my brembo calipers should be worth a good money ... a guy on Facebook tries to sell me ate calipers from 300td he says that they fit thats why I ask 😅

I have the original Aluminum Brembo calipers on my 92 500E. Calipers were rebuilt. Using Porterfield R4-S pads with anti-squeal compound and cryogenically treated Zimmermann rotors. No noise issues ever.

As GSXR stated, the Brembo calipers are valuable to the W201 crowd. Sell on ebay, post them here on the forum, or PM captruff if you want to sell them. He might be interested.

I will go with ate but my second question is does the caliper also fit back from 500sl?

Absolutely not. The early 500SL rear calipers are for 278x9 non-vented rotors.

You don't need to replace the rear calipers, and if you do, you'd want to upgrade to larger rear brakes.

All 124 diesels have smaller, single-piston front calipers. The Facebook guy was wrong. If he had photos, you'd see they are completely different.

Hello I have only just picked up on this thread and yes my original Brembo callipers on my 1991 500e were
making a squealing noise on removal we found that the rubbers seals and literally melted. I have searched
high and low for replacement OEM without any luck so on recommendation from our MB Club UK
directory I've taken them to Big Red in Worcester who specialise in refurbishing all callipers, they also
recommend using new disc (rotors) so hopefully this will cure the problem. However any other tips would
be greatly appriciated.
