Car Alarm/Key Remote

Hi Guys,

Long story short, my key remote won't lock/unlock the car doors, lights flash when buttons are pressed, but that's about all. I opened the passenger side door to get in the car and then opened the driver side door and the alarm went off. Lights turn on but car won't start. Locks seem to work, at least when I press down the driver side lock, all the door locks go down. Stereo system was just installed the day before so not sure if possible that installation the guy could've tripped a wire or something causing the malfunction. It's Sunday where I am, so all repair shops are closed. Just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this? I had tried to pull the battery cables and reconnect hoping to "reset" everything, didn't work, alarm still went of every time I opened the driver side door or start the ignition. I really don't know if this problem existed prior or if it was caused by the stereo installation as I assumed that after that lights flashed when pressing the key remote, the door locked/unlocked, when it could be that the doors were unlocked all along. Is there a way to disarm/uninstall the alarm/immobilizer but maintain the remote door lock function? I have a 94 MY E500 just in case that makes a difference. Any help is greatly welcome...Thanks!

Sounds like you have an aftermarket system ? Do u have a flip type key with one button ? A LED Green/Red sensor on driver's door and trunk ? AFAIK, IR on late euro(japan?) W124s, lights DO NOT flash . Unless of course some markets were set this way.

If you do have a factory IR check batteries on the fob and synchronise system again .

Though Sounds to me your stereo guy may have disturbed something .
