Huh. This is a variation of what R&T did a few years ago (link), but R&T upped the price by something like 3x. C&D appears to be keeping the same price, for now.

Dear Car and Driver Reader,

The Car and Driver team is excited to announce that in March, we will be launching our reimagined print magazine. You can still expect the same informed reporting, accurate testing, and irreverent commentary that has become synonymous with Car and Driver—only bigger and better. Starting with our March/April 2024 issue, we are changing our publishing cadence to six issues per year. Each issue will count as two issues, and your subscription terms will remain the same. These will be larger issues, featuring more pages, more photos, more in-depth road tests and comparison tests, and more of the stories you want to read.

With our reimagined format, we aim to give you, the enthusiast, more of the writing and reviewing you want. Because you are the ambassadors of the car world, the people who advise your friends and family on their next purchase, who follow the developments in cars and the car world as carefully as we do. And as always, we’ll continue to deliver all the car news, video, up-to-the-minute reporting, and shopping guidance on Caranddriver.com.

We would like to extend a big “thank you” to you—our community of passionate readers—for your continued loyalty. We always strive to ensure that when Car and Driver arrives in your mailbox, it’s a special event.

If you have any questions about any of these changes, please reach out to the editors at editors@caranddriver.com or the subscription department at cdbcustserv@cdsfulfillment.com.

Not surprising given issues in print/legacy media at large (see Sports Illustrated) but lame.
Their issues keep getting slimmer, and every year they have so many 'novelty' issues, it's rare to find ones dedicated to actually testing and comparing cars on sale today...you know, journalism. These include
  • Lightning Lap
  • 10 Best
  • 25 Cars worth waiting for
  • 'The EV Issue' or 'The Autonomy Issue'
Plus the page count has dropped from 150 in their heyday to ~80.
Sad!

If I had a subscription to C&D (which I don't), when they sent me a renewal notice I would tell them that I was going to pay half and that they should simply count each one of my dollars as two.

I quit both R&T and C&D magazines after 10+ years of subscriptions when most of the pages were Weather Tech advertisements and very little actual content. :topsy_turvy::runexe:

It became pretty worthless to me.

Same! The weathertech ads were out of control. Remember the days when we would squint at those 1 page Tire Rack ads with a matrix of 50 wheels styles on one page, all printed in black and white….. and try to imagine how “Fittipaldi Style 500” would look on our car from a dinky 1/3” x 1/3” B&W photo?
