R171 is not a bad looking little car. Proportions are kind cute, like a puppy.

Dang, you had me until I saw NE Wisconsin. I used to live in the area and I know what the seasons do to cars. Unless this thing was garaged from October to April the underside will be ugly.

Too bad, Mrs. Dan is chomping at the bit for a new set of wheels.

Dan

Drop-tops often are parked from Oct-Apr in the rust belt, Dan. Indicated miles would align with that usage. Worth a phone call (although I'd sell you my E63 for less, rust-free!)

Dunno. She really likes that S600 on Long Island. The whole idea scares the heck out of me.

Dan

And the dreaded cup holders...

I'll go $14k cash if records are clean and service history holds up.

Yup. I think the A124s have fallen back just a bit and we're basically into winter for most of the country.

The tear in the top is a real bummer.

If it indeed cuts through, but it looks a lot like a scuff.
Also, at closer inspection, does appear it's suffering from DDD too.

Great looking cab coupé in a unique color combo.

Don't know why this is being offered on Pcarmarket, but at first glance I thought it was Dick Ball's amphibious A124 with a wheel switch-a-roo.

It is not.

Nice, such low miles too! Unless my eyes playing tricks, both, front and rear bumper impact strips - passenger side, poorly/spotty/mismatched resprayed color?

I find I frequently see a color "peculiarity" between body, impact strip, and lower panels. The different surface textures create an illusion. Always hard to judge in pictures. For me. I rarely see one of these coupes that's not beat like a rented mule.

I already acquired the 1992 sportline which satisfies my urge to have a nice and more rare car. Besides, with four E320, 1994-5 and one 1992 300E, I really don't have room for another.

The cabriolet in the link below is for a good price, $4900. The seller seems to be a real MB guru. Hope someone would grab it.

From the ad:

“To many cars in the driveway only asking $4,900... May trade for 60's car or truck.”

🤣

The struggle is real.

One-Family-Owned C124 with AMG bits. Family took delivery then drove it to Affalterbach for goodies. What a story.

Really nice car. Needs more undercarriage photos. Note it received the fast-ratio steering box too.

Bummer it has no ASR, and that a replica front bumper was installed. The Genuine AMG bare bumper cover is still available new, they should have installed that during repairs. The missing license plate bracket or filler plate is a bit of an eyesore. All fixable, but would have been nice had this been taken care of during the repair & paintwork.

:pc1:

I was just looking at this one... nice car... too bad they never put a V8 in it... by the time I was looking for one BMW had solved the power issue in the 4 seater German convertible.

maw

Maw, did you change wheels? I like them.
@sheward no, those are the same ones. Thanks. I noticed my avatar was lo-res while others were high-res, so I went to change the avatar and of course I ended up changing the picture. But they are the Mercedes Alshain. Thanks again.

Looks like @Jlaa noticed the same thing.

A small category represented here... 4 seater, V8 AMG Convertible...

It's a category I happen to love, even though I opted for an inline 6 BMW M car for that category (something new and different + also legendary).

Wondering where steven^3 and his daily are these days…
I think Gerry said that we lost him a while back:(.

It’s a beautiful car to look at and I love Blk/Blk with a hard top over it. Black seats in a convertible is a non-starter for me. Especially in SoCal.

I’d much prefer this car with lighter color interior. Maybe Palomino.

lol

Those we’re my exact views when I was convertible shopping for FL, @TerryA . It’s how I settled upon a red interior. Black would have been a scorcher all the time.

So this one is funny to me. The car is slammed, is known to be problematic (engine, transmission AND suspension wise — the unholy trinity, not to mention the hard top) and has been in not one but TWO wrecks already. So people are bidding on what at this point, the parts?! I mean, engine, transmission and wheels??? The rest of the parts can be had literally anywhere and everywhere. This is emblematic of what happens when the Fed pumps too much money into the economy for too long, although NONE of their metrics notice this activity. None of them.

Agreed maw. I am not knowledgeable enough to get into the economic policy details, but the rate at which money is thrown at what I see as ridiculous purchases on BAT, the shoe has to drop at some point.

On this one specifically, i ‘appreciated’ the bidder who took the car from ~13k to ~25k, and then still proceeded to ask add’l questions in the comments. 🤦🏼‍♂️

I don't know anything about an SL65. I do own an SL55 and a CL65. Their both bloody excellent. I bought the SL55 in 2014 with 63000 miles on the clock. It's now got 67xxx miles. It's always a delight to drive and i should drive it more.

I maintain that the 55k is all you need and all you should own. The extra power, weight and complication of the 65s are surplus in the most technical sense, and mostly on the negative side of the sport driving equation.

Nice car here ... No Reserve: 35k-Mile 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

All it needs is the neatly tucked in Euro bumpers, a tiny bit of suspension drop and all set!
