Klink, thanks for this. You know I have this problem, and I was starting to suspect vacuum pods. While they may indeed be problematic, your explanation will help me explain it to those who will do the work. Since they are familiar with these and older vehicles, it shouldn't be a problem. And of course you know I'll call you if I have trouble explaining it.

Hell, I'm almost half way to $4k in repairs myself catching back up maintenance on what I still believe to be a well kept car in really nice condition.
 
my request to buy was a joke, but I think you sort out the pidly stuff around 3-5k and you have a gem for years.

Old cars have been my hobby for a long long time, I just happen to be enjoying semi-daily driving this one, I bought eyes wide open that the purchase price was only the beginning.
