Correct position of trunk stickers

Hi all,

My 500E's trunk stickers (the red rectangular ones pertaining to the key and the tire pressure that are on either side of the trunk latch) are mangled and I want to replace them with fresh ones, which are on their way to my home as we speak, thanks to eBay. I looked at the board's archive for reference, and found two photos that conflict with each other, and also with the current placement of my 500E's trunk stickers, so I thought I'd ask here:

Could someone who has ORIGINAL, non-replaced stickers on their 1993 500E please post pics of their correct placement? I'm looking for which sticker goes on which side, and also their positions relative to some reference I can replicate. Please only post if you're sure that your stickers are factory-correct so there's no confusion.

Thank you!!

Did you find your answer ? What conflicting info did you see ?

This post that Jim pointed to looks helpful.....

I can take some photos of mine and post them if you like.

My MY93 car's trunk decals were beat, too. I replaced them exactly as I had found them when I replaced the trunk interior panel they are affixed to (see the last pic).

Not being the original owner, I can't answer your placement question, but considering the first owner was a medical professional & the second owner was a software entrepreneur, I doubt they would have spent any time adding, deleting, swapping sides, etc., the decals....just scratching the hell out of them.

There's a decent probability the decals came this way in my car.

Thanks, this is very helpful!

The conflicting info I saw in the reference guide (http://500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?560-500E-E500-Factory-Sticker-Reference-Guide) were the pic in post #1 (one sticker only) vs the pic in post #2 (two stickers). And NEITHER of these matched my own car's stickers currently, because in post #2 the smaller sticker is on the right, but in my car the smaller sticker is on the left.

Taking all the photos together, the consensus seems to be that the smaller sticker goes on the right, so that's how I'll affix the new ones when they arrive.

I finally had some time to replace the mangled stickers in the trunk. Looks like the old ones were glued down with rubber cement or something previously, but some WD40 and patience did the trick.

Many thanks to DerFuror's helpful photos, which I used as my guide. My own photos are attached below; one of the finished job and a couple of the old stickers for comparison.

It's a small victory, but given my OCD tendencies, I think I'll sleep a little better tonight! :)

And I also took the opportunity to swap out my license plate frames. I know some of you will probably wince, but hey - it's just a frame. If my car starts getting egged, I'll put the original Mercedes-Benz ones back on. Or just go for nice, simple chrome ones with no script at all.

Janos, you're in good company.

I had purchased one for mine which said, simply, "There Is No Substitute" -- for those of us who remember that Porsche slogan. But it didn't fit properly, so I gave it to a friend who had recently purchased a 997 cabriolet. I would have rocked it 'til the cows came home and not cared what people thought about it, or not, if at all.

But alas, t'wasn't meant to be.

maw

You guys have fancy frames I used to have PORSCHE frame which was nice and free :agree:
