Cruise control issue

Hi all, my cruise control surges a little bit, like it slows down a little too much before accelerating.

Unless i'm doing 160kmh the cruise control isn't comfy to use, it's not a large surge but noticeable enough to be annoying.

Are there checks or any kind of maintenance needed for the cruise control system?

The car has done 230,000km.

The cruise control is part of the ETA function. You need to check codes on all the computer modules, especially the E-GAS module (which controls the ETA).

Wild guess: If there are no codes or other symptoms, I suspect you have a vacuum leak somewhere. You'll need to trace out every single vacuum line to check for cracked or broken pipe, or failed rubber fittings. Also check the PCV tubing from each valve cover.

What is the part number for our cruise control switch ??

Mine was broken (physically ) so I found that 86-93 cars and 94-95 has two different part numbers no matter what model is.

I bought for 92 300E and plug is different and the body of cruise is solid black while mine was neutral color.

My plug is 6 pins the one I bought is 5 pins.

Does the 500E have it is unique part number or it uses 94 95 switch ? or I made a mistake ?

Thanx

I can see this not being a particularly fun problem to solve, I shall get on it when I get home as it's never really worked that well since i've had the car (7 years now) and it's always needed some decent load on the engine to work.

Dave!
