Daimler AMG E60 Factory Production Letter - Need Assistance to Obtain

Hello all,

I am kindly asking for assistance on any contacts or leads that I could reach out to in order to help obtain the official factory production letter for my AMG E60. The car's records include copies of the bill of sale and options configuration letter with cost, which has been shared on this forum prior to my ownership. The car's service booklet is present and the code 957 is noted on the original data card inside the booklet. What I would like to obtain in order to add to it's tremendously documented history is the actual factory production letter from AMG or Daimler, or both. Doesn't matter if it is in German.

I have taken the following steps with no success:

1.- Called/emailed MB-USA: Their response, they could not help me as vehicle model was not offered for USA.
2.- Called/emailed MB-Classic: Have been waiting close to 2 months and although they are responsive to my follow ups, they note that they "have been waiting on Germany" all this time.
3.- Joined and called/emailed The AMG Lounge website. Interesting start as upon registering when I went to select the vehicle model from the drop down window, the 'E60' option was not available. So I had to note 'other'. I emailed their contact email and alerted of the situation and after 3 weeks they corrected it apparently. I also emailed them requesting assistance with the production letter and they first noted the department that handles those requests was off due to CoVid, then in regular follow ups every 2 weeks the final response as of last week is same as on item No. 2. Frustrating to say the least.

My last resort, aside from any help I can obtain from this forum's members is to actually write a letter, translate it into German and post send it to Daimler to the address and contacts on the attached sample AMG conversion letter which was furnished to me by that German dealer when I was looking into the Black/Red "Limited E60" which turned out to be a post delivery E500 code 958 with an AMG 6.0L engine drop in, not an actual Factory E60. Not to mention the asking price given that it is not a full AMG component conversion, it is just the engine and it is badged as an E60 and incorrectly advertised as a Limited E60.

Any help or contacts on the above are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, You could register with us in the official AMG Owners Club. We confirm an authentic Factory AMG with the archhieve department from the VIN when registering.

But the COC should be a good document as well.

Gents, Finally got a promising response related to this topic so posting it below in case someone else can also benefit from it. I already have put in my request and will update this thread when I receive something meaningful back:

MESSAGE EXCERPT AS RECEIVED:

Germany responded to us and they verified that a letter from AMG would be with the data card.
Please see below for the guidelines pertaining to the provision of data cards:
Data cards (vehicle build sheets) for Classic MB cars are provided solely to the legal owner or authorized representative of the vehicle for which the card is being requested.
Requests for data cards must include a proof-of-ownership for the vehicle in the form of a copy of the currently valid title (or a copy of a currently valid vehicle registration for States where titles do not apply), as well as a copy of the vehicle owner’s driver’s license.
Please note: Mercedes-Benz Classic USA will only honor data card requests from customers residing in North America (USA/Canada). For customers/vehicles located outside of North America, please see your local Mercedes-Benz dealer to place an order for a data card directly from the Mercedes-Benz Archives in Stuttgart, Germany.
For each data card retrieved, there is a non-refundable fee of $150.00 to defray costs associated with maintaining the data card archive and processing of requests.
Please send requests for data cards to classicdatacards@mbusa.com
We will contact you upon receiving your request, arrange for payment and send you the data card via email.
Thank you.

"Ask, and you shall receive" (And somewhere in between pay as well). After following the above instructions from MB Classic I have received the AMG Homologation letter for the vehicle of reference, and in what the free Google translator could produce this is the excerpt of the first page:

E60 AMG (type 124)
VIN: WDB1240361C108171
The above. Vehicle became from a new vehicle (base vehicle E 500) to E60 in 1994
AMG rebuilt (conversion order number H003924 at that time).
Significant changes compared to series production:
 Performance increase through AMG engine M119-6.0 with associated catalytic converter and silencer system
 Silencer system W124 500E (Japan) HWA 124 490 17 21 - (Exhaust Tips)
The technical data at the time of the conversion can be found in the system.

Next step an official German document translation and onto the car's file binder. Thank you to those members that reached out and posted options on this thread. I am happy to have concluded this part of the vehicle's documentation compliment.

Guess perseverance pays off, I had been reaching out to them and following up for 2 months now.

Thank you all.

The Japan Silencer System are the exhaust tips so posted part number for anyone interested. They appeal very much to me.

I believe your car has the full AMG E60 suspension as well (springs, dampers, front sway bar)... maybe some other docs show this?

Yes it's on the data card description. It's all in German. When I get the docs translated properly into English I will post them. Just glad to finally have received something, I have been chasing this for months.

CODE 981: WEGFALL SERIEN-FAHRZEUGBRIEF UND COC-PAPIER (tuv-EINZELABNAHME) / Deletion of serial vehicle letter and COC paper (TUV SINGLE ACCEPTANCE)

@195910 I guess when they ordered the car they had this option added which deleted the COC??

Yes That's right, I think its to issue another COC document from AMG directly, mine is the same.

Anyway, 957 and 786 are it. Everything else is complimentary. And the exhaust system and tips from factory were the cherry on top. Shipment date was March 18, 1994. My little sister's Bday. You can't make this stuff up.

PM me your E-mail and I will forward it to Club admin responsible for contact with AMG archives.
