Door clicking sound

So recently I noticed a faint clicking sound coming from the driver’s door which lasts until the engine is shut off. Click..click pause about 10 seconds repeat. I think it could be vacuum related. Ideas? The door locks, mirror motors, and other door items all work properly. Any help is appreciated.

Does the clicking coincide with your heater being switched on, and does the clicking go away if the heater is switched off?

Does the clicking coincide with movement of your upper body which moves the shoulder harness which is connected to the seat belt lock mechanism?

EDIT: While you are driving, put your left ear up to the seat belt hanger on the center pillar and use your right thumb to pull the seat belt away from your chest. If this is the problem, you should be able to correlate the click with belt movement. Ask me how I know.

How to fix the problem? Other than replace the seat belt assembly, which I previously did in 2018 for a failure of the inertial reel on the bottom, I haven't gotten around to dealing with it.

Update: So I tried the mirror movements to see if that might be it and then for completeness ran the window down. Once I moved the window motor the clicking stopped. Apparently the the clicking noise has something to do with the window when it is up. I will monitor and if it return I may take the door card off and look around.

It may not be a bad idea to remove door card anyway and just remove the switch connections and clean them. And since you are there, clean the weep holes out, tighten the plastic nuts on the wood of the door card. Clean and lube the regulator, and finally remove and clean the check strap and lube. All things being complete will certainly give you piece of mind for everything else. Looking forward to what you find in that switch and the connection once in there.

Tired window switch..?

The window el.motor doesn't have any microswitch shutting off the power when the window runs at end stop, fully up or down. That means the el.motor keeps pushing as long as the window switch is pressed, and I assume the fuse will blow at some point if the switch is kept pressed long enough. So with the window at end stop and pressing the switch several times you hear the el.motor activates, though I'm not sure it is a clear click.

The drivers window switch is the one most used and based on your explanation you may have a tired switch intermittently turning on the power by itself when the window is up/closed. Try to wiggle the switch button slightly and hear if the clicking stops. These switches are pretty durable but the tiny springs in it weakens by time and the contact points may be burned, or the switch is just worn out and due for replacement anyway. The switch can be taken apart if you like to do some surgery to check it out.

I remember being astounded after realizing these switches were completely serviceable (with nothing more than a small pry). I wonder if any other marque has done anything similar.
