Door Trim Press Screw

Previous owner did some weird stuff with my driver door and I’m finally addressing it. Unfortunately, an over tightened trim screw tore off from the aluminum backed wood trim.

What was the method used to attach this? Any DIY approach?

As always, I’m a noob to this world so any help is appreciated.

Your only option will be to re-attach with either epoxy or JB Weld. Fortunately, both those adhesives work well on steel and aluminum.

Roughen both surfaces with a file or 100 grit sandpaper and follow product directions. When finished, tighten the nut just enough to hold the panel flat to the door. Use blue Loctite on the threads.
