Last week I noticed that when locking the driver's side door it seemed a little "notchy" but worked fine. Mental note to spray in some lubricant next time out and about. Wife used the car the next day and told tell me that she couldn't get her key out of the lock. I was able to get it out by moving the post up and down and gently pulling the key for a minute or so. Now, I cannot get any key to turn in either direction. The keys go in and out smoothly but the lock is frozen. From what I read on the forum, to extract the tumbler, one needs to rotate the key to the right. My mechanic and locksmith both say that they don't know if it's the mechanism or the tumbler.
Both keys are not worn (original steel) and a third rarely used emergency key won't turn it. I've tried lubricants over the last couple of days but no-go. Same manipulation as before with the post did not help. All other locks and systems work normally. I presume that my only option is to disassemble through interior panel. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for any advice.
BTW, are the left and right tumblers the same?
