Ok guys,

So I have the rear door panel off to replace the door regulator! Thanks to our list member for selling me one- worked like a charm and was reasonably priced.
Besides removing loose pieces of debris. What do you guys do to the insides? Should I was/scrub/solvent the door. Seems like everyone I open has some sandy grit. Any suggestion to paint or rust preventive? I'm just thinking more on preservation/restoration. Maybe I should clean/grease the door strap? Bolt on it was loose.

Remove the door check strap and clean and re-grease it. I have a HOW-TO article on how to do this. Clean and grease the window regulator as needed. Otherwise just blow/clean out the bottom of the door and inspect it inside and out for any bad stuff. Then button it up !!

I recommend checking the nuts that hold the wood inserts for snugness. The fronts tend to become loose over time. Maybe a smidge of blue Loctite.

+1 I have seen these loose and more than a few cars and can be a source of squeaking.

+2 with Jeff and Drew. Pretty much every car I've had required the door wood trim to be tightened to eliminate rattles. If the nuts are metal, definitely use blue Loctite. I think I've seen some with plastic nuts though. (?)

Here is the HOW-TO on removing/replacing the door check straps.

You can fast-forward to the relevant parts, seeing as much of the initial work you would have already done.

Consider a larger diameter washer on that main nut for regulator to the center of the door. If the drain holes are clear, that's good. If you have some por15 or miracle paint, good prevention while you are there IMO.
