Driver door lock

My driver door lock key will not turn counterclockwise, but with lock assembly removed from the car the key turns both directions completely. I have the latch assembly out of the door and I can't get the white bushing to move more than a few degrees. Do the latches go bad often? Everything else works fine opening with either outside or inside handle. The plastic bushing the lock assembly is undamaged and everything lubricated.

Thanks

Mine did, I believe it failed in the exact same manner. It was a bastard to replace.

Do you mean the key will not rotate CCW at all, like the tumbler is seized or jammed? But the key/tumbler rotates normally when separated from the latch?

Does kinda sound like a failed latch assembly. Not sure if the old latch is fixable, I've never encountered this before. On the bright side I believe these are still available new.

I’ve had two drivers door latches fail recently in this manner. The one on my 1992 w201 190e and on my 1993 400e.

I inspected both closely when I took them out and could not find anything visually wrong with either. They do not appear to be easily repairable or take apart-able.
