WANTED Drivers Door Lock Cylinder (guide)

Was informed by parts.com and my local dealer that
part number 1247604977 is no longer available. Would the classic center be able to provide these door locks keyed to a VIN? Any suggestions here are greatly appreciated.

If not -can you provide the best lock lubricant to maximize
remaining life? My lock still works, but is becoming tricky to lock requiring more and more finesse. Really want to keep the locks all the same.

I had my key stuck in the cylinder and was almost stranded because I could not remove key for ignition. Afterwards I removed the lock and took it to a local locksmith who was able to fix it. So that's one way if you want to do some preventative maintenance. The most embarrassing part was all the passerby's thought I was trying to break into the car.

For one of my W126s, I bought a $5 can of Lock Ease, removed the tumbler and shot a bunch in there, working the lock back and forth and inserting and removing the key a bunch of times. I used it as a cleaner to flush everything out, then left it as a lubricant.

On the other car, I removed the tumbler, used brake cleaner to shoot out all the old grease, and used the MB lubricant that comes in the little ($11) spray can, working the tumbler as above.

Both cars tumblers feel great now. I'll do the E420 after I determine which of the two methods works best over time.

Geez, the door locks are NLA now too? This is getting insane.

BTW, the MB lock lube in the pressurized can is also NLA.

:runexe:

What’s the secret to getting the cylinder back into the lock barrel? I have the inserted all the way into the cylinder, the cylinder slides into the barrel but stops one foil short of being in all the way.
