Looking to buy a 93 500E us spec driver side headlight lens .

Also appreciate guidance on conversion to Euro spec. Why? How much? Pros and cons.
Thanks.

Loads of reading here on the subject. Short answer is the Euro lights put out better light than the US versions however the Euro lights are all but impossible to acquire. If one can find the items necessary, the cost will likely be in the $2000 to $3000 range.

Use the search function for more details.

In my Opinion there are no Cons to aquiring a set of Euro E-Code headlights for an E500E. They are better in every way from appearance to performance!

Now the downside. You’ll be lucky if you ever find a set and even luckier if they don’t cost you a kidney to buy them.

If headlight "doors"(the common term for US headlight lenses) are yellowed but not cracked or crazed it may be possible to sand and clearcoat to bring them back to clear. I've used this method to restore two sets of W210 lenses with great results. I have not yet learned of anyone trying this on US W124 doors. With little other choice, it may be worth it regardless of cracking or crazing.

Look to U-boob for instruction. Make sure to use a clearcoat with UV protection such as Dupli-Color 1K clear.

You are looking for the plastic lens over the inboard high beam, the H3 bulb... correct?

Not the square glass main beam with 9004 bulb?

:saucer:

The square glass portion is the same on all North American spec, pre-facelift 124 chassis. Any 300E, 300TE, etc is a donor.

EDIT: Merged duplicate threads.

As it turns out the MB dealer had the left lens over the inboard high beam as was asked. The crack was in the lower portion of that rather than the headlight lens itself.
Learning as I go….

Unique Style Racing Euro headlights?
Feedback?
Those are the same Depo lights you can buy from other places, possibly for less. Also, the wire "adapter" they include is a joke... what a terrible solution, vs including the proper 6-pole pin bush housing (which probably costs less!).

Remember that these Depo lights will result in losing the 2 extra high beams on a 500E, while adding 2 more fogs that you don't need...

Figured there was a catch. Too good to be true usually is!
Thanks.
