E320 m104 cranks but wouldn’t start

All of a sudden, on Friday when leaving work, the car would crank but not start. Checked OVP and any obvious things.

Got it towed to the house and next day, same issue but on second try, started right away. After that, I don’t see the issue. Out of the fear of getting stranded, I need to find and fix the issue.

Nothing in the codes, but did saw code 11 on Pin 14. “Fuel safety shut-off signal to engine control module (N3/4)”.

Not sure if is related to my issue or how long been there but going to tackle the throttle body first because it still has eco-junk wiring.

Questions:
1) I have a spare ETA with post 98 build date that came from a running car and part numbers match. Are they plug and play or should I get the original ETA rebuilt?

2) Any thing else I should check for that would caused the car to not start?

Thx

If the part numbers match, you're golden. Swap it in!

Wouldn't hurt to put a fuel pressure gauge on the rail and verify there is normal pressure (50-60psi) when cranking but not starting. That will rule out fuel supply issues.

Check with USA discount dealers first (call and talk to a live person). MB Classic still shows that part number as "available"... despite all the online dealer sites showing "Discontinued". Last price I saw was ~$1200 USD MSRP... big differences vs €2k + shipping.
