An interesting E420 i´ve met sometime ago. Sorry, i didn´t catch a VIN, now i´m really sorry about it....
First owner was one of MB workers, so somehow he was able to get an 009 Sapfir Black, painted as Limited- whole car in one colour,
Birds Eye Marple wood trim, double coloured steering wheel, ASR off button and etc.
Condition was not that brilliant....

Beautiful car. The .034 was available with 009 paint, I have seen several of these in the USA. All the 009 cars have the bumpers & moulding painted body color. Looks like this one was special ordered with the birds-eye maple wood trim (code 732). Not sure if the steering wheel was original or not, could have been a modification. The ASR Off switch is definitely aftermarket, MB never sold any 124 with that option. I'd love that exact setup in my .034! Black interior would have made it perfect...

was the door lock switch/button optional as well or did it become standard on late built 94 -95 124's??

Not in Europe, here 009 was reserved only for Limited, as Bird´s Eye wood trim. About ASR button you might be right, steering wheel is original. I wonder it doesn´t have a Sportline seats and separated seats on the back, would be chick. =)

yes, button was standard after facelift in 1993. Also all V8 modells had electric seats. 400/420 was possible to get without any airconditioning =)))

Interesting! In the USA, there are a number of 124.034's around with 009 paint (but not the BEM wood - the BEM wood was never offered in the USA, AFAIK). I like 009 much more than 119 paint, but that's just me...

There are very few if any 124s PERIOD of any engine type or year in the USA without klima....

BEM and 009 were availiable here only on 036 Limited....And i guess there are NO 034 without airco in the US =)
No W124 was available in the USA without air conditioning, AFAIK. MBNA specified certain items which were standard equipment on all 124 chassis sold in the USA, including (but not limited to) air conditioning, automatic climate control, and power windows.

The .034's that came to the USA were fully loaded with few options: ASR, heated seats, orthopedic seats, rear roller blind, rear reading lamps, cell phone, and CD changer were the only ones I can think of.

The .036's shipped to the USA only had CD changer and cell phone as options.

By comparison, the 6-cyl and diesels had less standard equipment and more options... had to pay extra for headlight wipers, leather, memory seats, and the better sound system... probably a couple other items I'm forgetting.

:apl:

Dave, you're slipping! Headlight wipers were standard on the 300E 3.0L, 300E 3.2L, and E320. They were optional on the 260E/300E 2.6L, and 300E 2.8L.
Regards, Eric

Eric, I believe this depended on the model year... but you may be correct. I don't pay that much attention to the 6-cyls.

:wormhole:

Headlight wipers as option or standard equipment did indeed depend on the model year (and the model) for 6-cylinder cars.

The 200D was never imported into the US. The smallest displacement engine ever employed on a US-market 124 was the 260 gas engine.

Cheers,
Gerry
