Does anyone know about either of these vehicles? Any known damage? One of our beloved E500s was deemed a total loss by our insurance carrier, and they came up with these (ridiculously low) valuations:

Thank you, nmal! Does anyone know what comps are available for actual sales of 1994 E500s? As you may have seen from a previous post, one of our beloved 1994 E500s, the green one, with a little over 200k, caught fire and is now a total loss. Allstate, our insurance carrier, proposed a very low valuation, using as nmal notes above, S500 sales, not E500 sales. I am looking to provide Allstate with realistic comps for this vehicle. Thank you all in advance! (We still have our beautiful Anthracite one!)

Bob, per your other forum thread, use Bring a Trailer sales history for 1994 E500 sales.

While you can supply Allstate with comps, they will rarely use anything you supply. Next option is escalating through their claims process and getting an independent appraisal for your car.

A rust-free, California-owned E500 with 200kmi should still be over $20k.

Click on each auction to see what the mileage of the car was and the date sold. Make up a listing in Excel and send to the mutts at Allstate
And add 5% for the Buyer's fee, as that represent the full value paid for the vehicle.

These are all valid and serious points. Any insurance company should know by now what these cars are worth. It's no secret. There are the sales mentioned, magazine articles recently written, and this website which has been tracking values for more than a decade now. The car is insured, and you are deserving of the full value.

I'm sorry for the loss. Great that you have another.

Unless one has an agreed value policy. You will have to fight tooth and nail with them to get your true value. If they won’t play ball tell them to replace the car with one of equal value.

Again the BaT auction is the place to get comps. I’m afraid that Allstate will try to Nickel & Dime you to the last penny.

Good Luck

Moving this thread to OFF TOPIC DISCUSSIONS because it is not an actual car listing for sale, linked to an auction or page along with photographs.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE honor the forum’s format, tenets and norms for posting in the correct sub-forum. This creates a significant time burden on administration when we have to be constantly correcting and moving posts around, because people are not honoring forum protocol.

Thank you.

There is nothing lazier than an insurance company / adjuster.

Sorry, Gerry, I was not sure where to most my insurance valuation queries.
