These were never sold in the US. According to the NHTSA inport records, only one has been legally imported into the US and it was recently for sale (almost bought it myself) it was purchased by a member of the 500e community, think he is in AZ.

look in the 500E wiki page that Gerry just put up.

125 E500E's have been converted to E60/6.0 By AMG.

4 converted to 6.5L by brabus (out of which one was an E60 AMG)

There are way more than just 12 limiteds made, 12 might be the number for a specific region like Germany, but it does not include Japan

There were 500 Limiteds made. This is definitive and accurate. Only two exterior colors were made for the limiteds along with a select number of interior shades.

The "12" number is E500 Limiteds that were transformed into E60 AMG models.

Cheers,
Gerry

We all seam to have different interpretation of the figures.

According to my German "source" which deal which often deal with AMG and limited E500E.
The number of E60 Limited = 12. (12 out of the 125 !?, don't know)
The number of original E60/6.0 AMG = 125.
the number of E500 limited = 500.

I think the third is agreed by all of us. but the first and second, well thats why I suggest contacting HWA to get the facts.

I could be wrong of course, but its best if we make sure.

Original E60 AMGs are very rare to find. A VIN number check is necessary to determine weather it is an original AMG car.

I have not heard of one in Oman. But in our region, I think their are only two or three E60s. one being the red Brabus 6.5 in our country.
A black Japanese E60 limited in Sharjah which I have heard of (not sure if its an original).
And possibly one more in Dubai.

Information is very scarce.

There was a 92 500E 6.0 in Dubai for sale recently, I can't recall the price but it seemed fairly cheap (45k or thereabouts), it had non original wheels, like OZ or AMG mono blocks or something, it was still pre facelift, I think that was green, I can't find the link for it anymore......

There seems to be a lot of 124.036 in Dubai, never seen one in the skin, saw a few (500's that is) when I worked in Lebanon though, there are supposed to be a few E60's there.

Think you're talking about the same car (The green E60), I've been in Dubai for the past four years and you are correct, there are quite a few 500's around here. The Ras Al Khor used car market is between the office and home for me so I often go for an evening stroll around the complex, in that time I have seen two 500E's, three E500's, and three limited's (one of which I bought) go through the yards. There was a black E60 badged 124 parked there about three months back but only for one day and I think it may be the one from Sharjah previously mentioned in this thread, it had those cool looking projector headlights but I didn't get a close look at it and no idea if it's a genuine car or not. One of those E500's I mentioned is the Japanese one with the checked interior mentioned in another thread which is still for sale at AED 35,000.

Yesterday I spotted a silver update model driving on the Hatta rd, in very nice condition.

I have seen two different black cars in Abu Dhabi also, and it wouldn't be unreasonable to suggest that there could be several more 036 cars sitting in garages of the gulf Royal families that probably rarely see the light of day.

Kuwait seem to have the market cornered though by the sounds of it!

Yes we do have more than (40) 124.036 around. which is the highest number in the gulf (Atleast we think so!).
UAE being second But due to the fact that they are imported for trade not for private use. with many seeing their way over here at the end.

They are becoming more and more known to people, with every traffic light they stop at ;)
These cars have increased in value in the last few years. But I do wonder why the keep being cheaper in the UAE, than in the countries they are imported from (Germany before, Majority Japanese now)

They used to be scarce to find for sale even in the UAE. but the Japanese MB's lead to more cars being imported. with atleast 5-6 cars imported in our country being Japanese.

I have heard of a Japanese E60 limited for sale in Sharjah, with 12000 Km. strangely it is priced at 1/3 the value in japan !
Well actually all the JAP 500's seem to have too low prices. Not sure why though :detective:

Quite a few cars are purchased out of there by Dubai based people too these days, although I must admit the most common language I hear spoken there besides Arabic and Farsi - is Russian, plenty of cashed up Kazakhs and such coming to Dubai and Sharjah to car shop.

Yes the Jap imports are sometimes suspiciously cheap, no service records are ever forthcoming but at those sort of prices it's almost worth taking a punt.

Kazakhs seem to be doing well... Did you hear about the first stolen Maybach ?

Sorry for late coming,

As far as I could count in very limited area, there are over 100 6.0 in Japan.
It supposed to be AMG,Brabus,HAGMAN,CARLSON and Japan made 6 litter.

And my MOTOR is the last one from AMG, The record was written 119974 500/500.
so I think there must be 500 E60 in this planet.

talking about the existing 500E in Japan, the number would be over 5000 and
most limited version(90% or around) are in JAPAN.

I hope you can enjoy or feel this situation after air travel.

Jack, Niibe scored a brand new (!!!) 6.0L AMG crate motor a couple years ago direct from MBATC in Germany, and he got it so cheap there may have been a police investiation about possible theft. :D Back at the time, I wasn't sure what else was needed to make it work, and I was short on $$$. I will be kicking myself forever for missing that opportunity. But anyway, this motor was installed in a 500E, the car was not an original E60. There were photos & more details on the old Ecstasy site about this swap.

Hello Niibe.

The number you mentioned is a little strange. the total production number is 10479 , and according to Gerry numbers (see production numbers in the wiki section) Japan only received about 1000 cars.

Can you please clarify.

Do you know the number of cars that were exported from japan ?

I am respectfully sorry but I have to take some issue with what you are saying here Niibe.

You are saying that very close to ONE-HALF of the original production total of all E500E's worldwide currently resides in Japan, and that there are 450 out of the 500 Limiteds produced also there?

I find this VERY difficult to imagine. According to my records, it is very likely that only perhaps 60-70% of all E500Es produced are still in operation, given the fact that accidents occur, cars are neglected and written off, non-operating but complete cars are sitting in garages, etc. One only has to look at the official numbers (from German records) of the E500Es currently registered in Germany to see that the numbers are sliding downward by the year. I would assume that this is happening (perhaps to a significantly lesser extent) in other countries as well, even Japan.

You can find this information in the wiki from this board/site:
http://www.500eboard.com/wiki/index.php ... on_numbers

5,400 cars produced (out of ~10,400 produced) stayed in Germany. That means that there must be many ships packed with "well used" E500Es that have traveled from Europe to Japan. I find this difficult to believe.

I don't have direct & detailed records of that many E500 Limiteds, but I have records and/or knowledge of pretty close to 50 of them that are NOT in Japan. I am sure that there are a high percentage of Limiteds in Japan (optimistically, a couple of hundred out of the 500 produced total) but not 90% !!!

Cheers,
Gerry

? ??????????? ?????500E ? ????E500 ? ????????? ???

The above sheet written in Japanese is official release from DCJ in according to E500E registration and production number in Japan.
Only 1184 cars were registered by authorized dearer as model E-124036.

Yes, This sound strange but this record does not include parallel import from Euro,Dubai and US.
In these years JPY was very strong and many Japanese've loved E500E even after the production,
But All pararell imported cars were registered as -124036- or Fumei ( unknown ) not E-124036 in( Shakensyou), the pinkslip.

The number I mentioned is just my personal inspiration. yet I have a chance to involve Auto Insurance actually association as my occupation.
and persue as auditor at import auto parts company. the number is not such big mouth.
These are common sence in Japanese auto market.

Talking about LTD version, There were no LTD officialy in jp.
ALL LTD were parallel import but the number does around 400.

This might also be a kind of inspiration but estimate and total up from pararell importers during 1994 to 1996.
and Some enthusiast made after market made LTD in Japan.

so it asume that the current existing ratio LTD :500E is 1:10 or so.
For example, I can see a lot of ltd version in the meeting,in recent meeting in last year at Hamanako lake,
Over 100 E500E at once and 1/10 were LTD.

These all might be difficult to discuss further more without any concrete evidence.

By the way you can see my written issue in Germancars that is Japanese magagine.
