• Hi Guest !

    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

We hope you will become an active contributor to the community!

EPC Confirmed to be Phased Out with new replacement coming: XPPIS / ISPPI

Nemigaparts.com is a Great resource. Mbepc.com is another.

They are solid/reliable IME.

Jono
Thank you! At least nemigaparts.com works for me. Although that seems to be associated with Belarusian company, and considering the current political situation there, I don't know how long it may be accessible.
MBepc.com redirects now to Marc Barry Engineering, but this must have changes not long ago. I recall I used mbepc.com some time in the past.

I still recommend using the EPC that is found in the pre-packaged images available through this forum, for Oracle VirtualBox and VMware Fusion. These are factory items, and include the WIS if you need it. Otherwise, as Jono mentioned, there are decent resources online as well.

I have not seen any announcement that the ISPPI will no longer be made available to the public. If so, that is news.

That being said, the ISPPI, at least here in the US, is offered through MBUSA channels. See top center of the attached screen shot.
The ISPPI in Europe is similar, I think the background image in my case was different. I haven't seen the announcement on discontinuation of access to ISPPI too, but to be honest - I did not read those info messages signaled with red dot over the triangle. They mostly were about interruption of service during night hours, so I started to ignore them. Maybe one of those was about discontinuation of access.

So far nothing changed - I can't renew it. I checked whether maybe there something else instead and they added a link to Mercedes-Benz Used Parts:

It simply redirects to MB GTC B2C Shop | MB GTC B2C Shop , and at the bottom there is the following info:

Operating under the famous Mercedes-Benz star, we offer affordable repair services for workshops, taxi companies, fleet operators and, of course, your private Mercedes. As the first proprietary dismantling facility of it's kind, we specialise in recycling Mercedes-Benz components, from the 190 to the SL. Our repair solutions are in accordance with the current market value of the vehicle and tailored to models such as the 124, 129 and 140, all current series, as well as A-Class, B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, G-Class, R-Class and commercial vehicles like the Sprinter, Altego and Actros.
That looks like alternative source of parts (my immediate feeling was "oh, yes!"), but when searching by Vehicle Type it goes back at most to W210, and search for any part from my "to find list" gave no result.

Having no access to the thread with forum images of EPC I bought one via eBay. For about 4$ (I picked thee cheapest one available) that was hardly any risk. That gave me EPC under VM, and surprisingly that works quite fast and I'm not noticing any delays. I thought that WIS will provide me also with wiring diagrams, but there are hardly any there for W124 (no matter E220 or E420).

Surely I was :) But for me that thread results in:

I supposed that maybe I do not have sufficient Points/Reaction Score/etc, what was kind of understandable (that surely was an effort to prepare those images, and now imagine new guy, just registers, jumps in to grab whatever is available and is gone).

Well, for a moment I thought that maybe working too much made me so tired, that I do not control myself what I click and see, but I still had that tab opened (and I recall that was the effect I saw a few weeks ago):

But...it works now :) I don't know whether I've been granted access just now, or something fixed by itself, but anyway thank you for the effort of providing those images of EPC!

I just received notification from MB that starting as of January 2022, they are raising the annual price of the ISPPI to $92, from the former price of $79. Prior to the prior price increase, the ISPPI was initially offered at $75 annually.

This makes the 500Eboard "EPC+WIS" virtual machine download an even better deal for parts information.

The one key benefit I see to the ISPPI at this point, is that it does include up-to-date supercession information for many parts (although generally if parts are ordered using the old part numbers, the supercession will show up at the time of ordering).

Hmmm, I was not aware of this capability. I purchased a Vmware version but it has been a hassle because my computers are too old to run the latest versions of Virtual Machine and finding free copies of older versions didnt work out.

But I also get the

Which link?

BTW, welcome to 500Eboard, Sushi!
In Gerry’s post #103 for the epc vm images he was talking about:

Hello

Sorry to bother, but I don't have acess to the EPC link too. Can you please correct that?

Thank you very much.

Kind regards
