Front Sway Bars

Came across two sway bars for sale in my area which I am unsure of, 1 supposedly for an E60(part number HWA1243236965) and the other for an R129 which is purportedly 32mm(part number B66020032). The E60 sway bar part number does not match the one that can be found here on the forum. Does anyone know if these bars are legit and does a R129 bar fit on an 036?

I want to say HWA1243236965 is a Japanese market item but I am unsure. If you have a diameter that would help.

The R129 has been discussed in various places but I don't know of a definitive answer.

Kind Regards,

Ron

I'm not sure what HWA-124-323-69-65 is... but I doubt it will be E60 front sway bar. The E60 bar HWA-number is HWA-124-323-01-65.

I don't believe the R129 bar will work without modifications of some sort, and I'm not sure if there will be clearance issues with either the oil pan or oil/SLS hoses.

:scratchchin:

The HWA part is a Japanese market part which I have seen on a Japanese site before on an 036, just not sure of sizing.

Has anyone seen this type of W124 500E/E500 front swaybar before?
It is mentioned to be 32mm.
Is it custom made with those reinforcements?
Or maybe Brabus or Rentech?

I've never seen one like that before. Looks custom, I have no idea where it may have come from...

Those bushings appears to be spot welded!!

The material used for swaybars & springs are crack sensitive and any welding create stress concentrations and change in the structure and develope a fatigue fracture. The welding is probably done prior to final heat treatment during production since the swaybar has held up, but the issue is something to keep in mind.

I have in fact experienced a swaybar linkage snapped during driving. It was at front on a regular car, in a tight right curve, the car drifted all over to the left lane shoulder and I barely managed to keep it on the road. And luckily for my young son & me it was no meeting car...
