Sway bars/Anti roll bars remanufactured

Update: Finally found my E55 AMG aluminum rear bushing bracket 210-326-00-26 and 20mm bushing 210-326-04-81.

The aluminum E55 bracket has the same bolt spacing as steel bracket 202-326-02-26! Sadly, the aluminum E55 bracket is NLA so this won't help. It had been $25 MSRP each. And, the aluminum E55 bracket only fits 210 chassis, not 124... the bolt spacing is different between chassis (wider space on 124, as shown in photos above, post #80). I guess reproductions could be made to fit the 124 with 20mm bushing, but that wouldn't be cheap.

If the HWA-bushing mentioned earlier will fit steel brackets, that would be the ideal solution. The low-cost fix would be the Honda setup, or just using the original, old 18mm 500E rear bushing with the 20mm bar.

well, there are options that’s what is important, i can include the mercedes bushings in the kit and then its up to the customer to figure out wich way they want to mount the bar, using the stock w124 bushing for the 20mm bar its basically mouting it metal to metal, that bushing is not going to last long, but again which ever whay you want to go be my guest,

the honda bushing is 2.50$ if it starts squeaking i can change it every month 😂

i actualy orderd all the bushings for the kit, all mercedes bushings front and rear, i had to rder from germany because in the US they barely had any, now i can include the bushings or you can source them yourself, your choice, the rear bushing might not be useful for everyone but whatever you want, i can include it or not, but so far honda parts stand on top of my personal choice, cheap and accessible and pretty beefy bracket and bushing, considering that HWA bushing is 50$ each i wouldn’t take it over the honda parts wich for 2 bushings and 2 brackets would be about 30$

Any details on the Eibach front sway bar? Was this for V8 cars, or 4/5/6-cyl chassis?

And yes, I've not seen any rear bars of 18-20mm diameter specifically for 124 chassis. The 210 rear bar requires modifications to fit and is overall not an ideal item for any 124 chassis.
My bad! I’ve always preferred Eibach over H&R and thus my tiny brain just filled in its dream scenario instead of reporting the truth; my friend bought a 30mm front swaybar for V8 models from H&R, not Eibach! The kit has the number “H&R 33124-1” and is indeed apparently still available from various online retailers (at least here in Europe).

One of them is MK Fahrwerkstechnik which should be able to deliver in a few days according to their website.

Moderator note: Without VAT the price is approximately €365 / $425 USD.

also if i remember correctly the eibach bars were 28 mm not 30mm
Your memory might be right - as I mentioned in my post just above this, mine wasn’t; he bought a swaybar from H&R, not Eibach.

BTW; he also mentioned the rear AMG R171 could be an option for a bolt on 20mm - do you know anything about this?

Forgot to add the picture of the kit he bought:
Fascinating. I didn't know this existed. I've added the data to my spreadsheet and added the photo to my website.

Can your friend measure the diameter of the bar at the middle? I assume it's 30mm but it would be nice to confirm. EDIT - just saw you stated above it's a 30mm bar, but still would be nice to verify via a caliper to confirm.

Note this bar tapers to 22mm much sooner vs the custom bars, so it is likely stiffer than stock / similar to E60, and the custom Blue bars will be stiffer than E60.

First I've heard of it. Would need to get the 2 bars side by side to compare... from the photos, it may not work on V8 models?

SLK55 AMG rear swaybar data:
Rear bar = 171-320-01-10 ($175 MSRP)
Bushing = 210-326-04-81 ($15 MSRP, 20mm, same as W210 E55 AMG
Bracket = 171-326-01-26 ($10.50 MSRP each)

I'll ask him for more pics of the front one, and also asked whether he had more info on the SLK rear one 👍 He is currently converting a W201 using the engine out of a 2001 S55 (M113), so you might be correct in thinking that it won't fit the V8s (or possibly 124s in general). For some reason I just assumed the rear one would be compatible across platforms as well, like the front one..

Got it. I wonder if the R171 rear bar fits the W201.

The 124 and 201 bars do not interchange (neither front nor rear). The 124 chassis is wider than the 201, so the 124 bars are also longer/wider vs 201 bars.

425$ just for one bar thats quite pricey, good option though, does it come with new bushings?

Looks like I’m one of the performance-oriented MB friends of Surf Blau:)
I ordered the front bar from MK Fahrwerkstechnik in mid-June and received it about five weeks later, shipped from Germany. It was then listed at £366 plus shipping and VAT.

I have yet to cut and install the bar on my car, but the diameter is indeed 30mm and tapers down to 22mm.

The following is copied from the e-mail reply I recived from H&R in June.

There are bars for the W124 8-cylinder models but these are not TÜV approved. We do not offer anything TÜV approved for these and also no bars for the other engine models (no plans for these for the near future).

Part number: 33124-1
ront bar with matching rubber bushings
Diameter ø 30 mm
Only for W124 8-cylinder
Colour: black
No TÜV approval or other homologation paperwork

Part number: 33124-1
Set front and rear with matching rubber bushings
Diameter front bar ø 30 mm, diameter rear bar ø 20 mm
Only for W124 8-cylinder
Suitable for cars with and without self-levelling
Colour: black
No TÜV approval or other homologation paperwork

what is TUV?

can you post some pictures of the rar bar and the notch in the rear bar please

TÜV is a German safety and quality inspection system for car parts. In Europe, cars must pass regular government inspections, and any modifications require approval. The most common way to legally add modifications to your car is to buy and install parts that have a TÜV certificate.

I believe the person from H&R made a typo in the email sent to me. My guess is that the part number for the kit, which includes both front and rear bars, ends with a different digit.

I only bought their front bar and therefore didn’t receive any further details about the rear bar.

Great info, glad you found the thread so I can stop misinforming everyone here 😄

BTW; Maybe you can upload the pics you showed me of the H&R bar measured by a caliper? They were too grainy after being sent through Messenger unfortunately..

hi everyone, I am ready to place the order, I'm hesitating a little bit on how many should I order, I thought there will be a little more interest in this but it looks like not a lot of people reacted to this post, the minimum amount I can order is 10 of each, please leave a comment with your thoughts on that, the more I order the cheaper per unit it gets, thank you
Hi TOPnotch55! Did you place that order for the FR. & R. bars? I'm interested in a set!

hi everyone, small update here on the rear seay bar bracket option for W124 with rhe 20mm rear sway bar and 20mm bushing

so as per Gsxr post the SLK55 AMG rear sway bar bracket wich is stamped metal could be an option for the W124 chassis, the bracket holes seems to be just slightly wider than the stock W124 500E bracket, i ordered one to check and here are some pictures, with some slight grinding on the wholes this would be the closest option that comes from mercedes, here are some picture and leave a comment on that

you can see in the picture that the mounting holes are very close, just a little bit of grinding and it is a bolt on solution

Hi TOPnotch55, I'm not so concerned about a notch in the rear bar, I have a 1995 300 with a OM606TD swap - just want the Sway Bars. Please keep me in the loop! TKS your doing a great job. P.S. I have never had a problem with leaf springs for medium duty truck from Betts that I use to work on!
