I am very sad to announce the departing of 'Greta'-my dear old friend- a W124 Benz V8. I Have owned car since 2011 and made it into a mechanically sound dependable daily driver. I have use it to do long distance road trips no problem and wouldn't hesitate to use it tommorow for such endeavors. Only getting rid of it due to too many projects and potential big move. Very smooth , effortless high speed cruiser. Gets 19 mpg extra urban drive and about 25 mpg high way. The M119 4.2 litre engine sounds glorious!
ASR car
New wiring harness
Changed the fan clutch
Rebuilt the ETA myself (I'm an mechanical engineer)
New Shocks -front and rear
New front strut top mounts (plus alignment)
New Blower motor-
Rebuilt Trasmission (in 2012- by Transwerks in Michigan)- this was huge and cost almost as much as my asking price!
European lights fitted
New O2 sensor
MAF sensor changed for reconditioned unit
Drivers side window motor changed
Use of fully synthetic motor oil (roughly every 6000 miles)
Starter motor changed by previous owner
Use of Cavity wax and dinotrol underseal to minimise corrosion
The negatives
front bumper/clip lower edge cracked off
Although new blower motor worked when tested outside of scuttle, when installed -doesn't work- fuses check fine. Needs looking into- probably binding
superficial rust- very minor bubbles- car is structurally very sound with minimal rust even underneath
A/C needs recharge
Car is externally a 5/10 (looks better in the pictures than it is) mainly due to a blemished hood and a dent on the rear left quarter. Car looks a little rough around the edges
Internally the car is a 7/10
Will throw in new fuel pump, and spare replacement right fender (original plan was to get the car immaculate and respray after getting it mechanically dependable)
Have a spare set of wheels with Blizaks- the car didnt really see much snow as I would use my truck instead
