I have a 1994 smoke silver E500 with 9,900 miles that I may be selling. This is my third one! Still has the original air in the tires. I think it is worth about $36,000, but thought I would check with members. Interested in your feedback.

Re: 1994 E500

It would be advisable to post a full description, photographs, history, etc. when you post a car as being for sale. Just sayin'

Re: 1994 E500

I own the car and live in the Denver Colorado area. I am the second owner, the first lived in California. I am trying to get an idea of what it is worth and may sell it. All maintenance is done by my local Benz dealer. Will work on getting some pictures posted. Hope helpful.

Re: 1994 E500

My name is Dave. I am the second owner and live in Denver, Colorado. The car is pristine. No modifications. The original owner lived in California. I have only had Maintenence done by my local Benz dealer. Will post some pictures. Sorry, I am new to the the site/blogging.

Re: 1994 E500

Not sure what you're implying, do you know the seller??

Sorry my bad. :)
Thought that this was a prankster because of the "Still has the original air in the tires" comment.

Tip for the next owner, buy new tires a.s.a.p. if the car has tires made in 1994.

Yes, we have a couple of recent sales of fairly low miles cars (although not as low as yours). If the car is as original and pristine as you say, with the "time warp" miles on it, it is likely that the car could go for $30K if perhaps not a bit more. NYC123 has been in the market for just such a car, so I hope you are able to cut a deal with him that is agreeable.

An old phrase in the reselling buisness used to imply very original low miles. Yes, some new tires would be a good first purchase.

Dave. No problem. You are at the right place for information / help with all things E500E related. There are many helpful and knowledgeable owners here.

Re: 1994 E500

Thanks for the obvious tip. I am extremely appreciative of originality down to the tires. I am surprised that is a negative for some.

Thanks for all the great input. I decided to hold on to the car.
Dave,

That's a smart move. These cars are getting harder to find, especially with extreme low mileage like yours. Long term, the value should gradually increase. If you don't need to sell... I'd keep it!! Back to your original question, I'd ballpark the current value at high $20's to low $30's. Mid/upper $30's would be top end in today's market.

Glad about your decision... I was having a hard time trying to justify with the wife why we need another car in the garage! Hope you become a regular at the forum, tons of information and experts always willing to help around here.

You car is pristine according to the pictures you sent me, keep it in that shape but enjoy driving it more often!

Good decision for you, bad for me !... enjoy the car and make sure to keep her clean for me... I will have to enjoy my 42k mile jet blk 1993 500E for now... (I would post pics of that as I just got it all serviced and ready to go after purchasing 2 months ago but can't figure out how to post pics here )

You guys must be kidding me, this car is basically new and 30k is definitely not enough - that's like what 25k Euros? The cars I see for that price on mobile.de and Autoscout usually have around 100-200,000 km's :wtf:

The European market is not the same as the US market. Now, if the car was listed for sale in Europe, that might be a different story.

:seesaw:

Demand is definitely higher in Europe. Most Americans don't even know this car exists -- there, it's a cult classic. Most of the people who recognize mine (in and around Miami) have heavy European accents -- "Say Brrro, is dat ze ViveHundred?" As for yours, I say keep it, drive it, enjoy it. Just a wonderful car, as you know. My '92 has about 65k on it -- it idles like a Prius and pulls like a train, and has that understated, diplomat curb appeal. I drive it just as much as the others. All that said, and having just left the market 9 months ago, I agree with Dave M that $30k is about as high as anyone will go for these cars -- even collectors (many of whom are here). I think as I was looking, there was one with 60k-ish in Michigan that went for about $25k. I don't think fewer miles than that drives any extra value. Just saying -- my opinion.

Well I know that the market is not the same, but not even 10,000 miles is really almost nothing and I do think fewer miles does something, there's people out there who seek these cars and have a lot of money, and are ready to spend this money on cars like these! This is not about how stable the car is with the low mileage, it's almost more of an iconic thing. If it was about the condition of the engine with that low mileage, I think it wouldn't really matter - we know very well that these engines do up to half a million km's. So yes in THIS case fewer miles probably has not the same impact.
