Re: FYI - Parts orders from MB Naperville - Free shipping through 12-31-2017
I received order acknowledgement immediately from mboemparts.com via e-mail, once I make the order. For both orders, I also received status updates from them, and tracking number notification as to when a box ships (at the time they shipped).
For my second order, where I ordered two late W126 heated washer nozzles as part of a larger order, they also informed me separately that the part had to come from Germany, and this would introduce a 5-7 day delay for the order.
It appears that MB Naperville has changed its ordering from the older "Parts.com" days. It used to be that they did the following:
- For parts they had in their own dealership's parts stock, they would ship immediately from Naperville/Romeoville, IL
- For parts that were in MB parts warehouses, they would have MB ship the part(s) directly from the five MB parts warehouses
- For parts that were in German MB warehouses, they would get the part from MB and then ship it to customers from Naperville/Romeoville, IL (after a few days' delay)
Now, it seems that MB Naperville is obtaining all parts directly from MB warehouses, collecting them, and shipping them directly to customers from their dealership. i.e. no (or at least fewer) direct shipments to customers from MB parts warehouses. This is what most of the dealers always have been doing (such as MB Gainesville, and Husker), and it introduces a 2-3 day delay, because the dealership has to collect all of the parts from various MB warehouses, repack them and then ship them out.
In the older days, you would order parts from parts.com or mboemparts.com on a Monday, and you would have parts at your door on Thursday, or Friday at the latest, most often shipped from MB warehouses.
These days, it seems that all boxes are coming from Naperville/Romeoville.
My first order, placed May 24 (last Wednesday), was shipped on the 31st, and is out on the truck for delivery to me today.
My second order, placed May 25 (last Thursday), is waiting for the washer nozzles from Germany, and has not yet shipped.
In the old days, the free shipping was FedEx 2-Day shipping. It appears that the "free shipping" is still 2-Day FedEx, per attachment.
Markville, I know that at least for me, I have several "waves" of totally different FedEx drivers that deliver at various points throughout the day. Early morning, morning, early afternoon, and evening. It is likely that your mboemparts packages are being delivered by one particular driver who, perhaps, is not savvy as to security/placement of the package.
I also specify at time of order that I want a human to sign for my FedEx packages. I have had two packages stolen (one off my apartment doormat, that was sent me by my mom last fall) so I am not messing around any more with them dropping packages off. Same with UPS. For USPS I have a keyed lock-box for up to Large Flat Rate box size, so this is not as much of a problem.
Cheers,
Gerry
