Genuine Mercedes 2 piece clip on wheel balance weights

Has anyone had any success in buying the genuine balance weights (or Hofmann saftey weights)
that are attached to the wheels with a spring clip ?
The EPC seems clear enough , the clip/spring is A 124 401 0728 and the weights all have various
A171 401 xx94 part numbers. eg a 20 gram weight is A171 401 1494.
Cost is low clips/springs are under £1 and weights around £2 BUT I cant get a clear answer about
possable minimum order quantitys my local dealer is talking about having to buy a box of 100 clips
and weights in boxes of 1000 for each size.
This seems strange when you can buy small nuts bolts washers etc in singles
If anyone does know for certain I would love to know,
Graeme Johnson

Managed to get a bit further in my attempt to replicate an as delivered spare wheel
Obtain a used wheel and have re-furbished thats the easy bit
Genuine valve and dust cap cheap from the dealer
Warning label/plate these are available but they are different, much thinner no brass
eyelet worse quality paper
I added the eyelet and some fuse wire and a split pin so I could wire it to the valve
I should have laminated the label before adding the eyelet this would have protected
it and made it more like original
I may buy annother but they are quite expensive for what they are
Weights £2 each plus VAT (20% ) But for each size you need you have to buy a pack of 10
Fitting clips 0.94p each plus VAT But you have to buy a box of 100
So unless you have a high end tyre shop close by that uses Hofmann equipment and has
the Saftey weights its a bit too expensive to be worthwhile
Even main dealers in the UK no longer use them
If anyone has a dealer or shop close by that uses these and is willing to sell just a few weights
and clips I would be interested
I know the sizes I want but obviously cant send a wheel to America for them to balance
Thanks for any help or leads to suppliers

I have a decent variety of these. If you really need them send me a pm with the weights you need.

Jeff

IMO those types of clips harbour corrosion on the rim. I prefer to just use the modern self adhesive weights to the inside edge of the rims. Yes these can be visiible but if the tyre fitter is good he will think of strategic placement in order to keep out of sight as best as possible

I know what you mean Joe , Yes these trap dirt and encourage corrosion and yes they do look ugly
I would never have them on the wheels mounted on the car . But I want these for spare wheels that with
luck will never come out of the boot
Jeff
Thank you very much for that kind offer I will have the wheels spun again to be sure of the weights I need
then I will pm you and we can sort out a deal
That is so good the more I cant get an item the more determined it makes me
