Not mine, as I have none..............last week this 1956 Gullwing was sold in an ArtCurial auction (in Paris) at no reserve for > € 4,4 mio

Fascinating description and pics of this car in the catalogue on pp 80-91: Issuu Reader

Description and pics also here: 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL ‘Gullwing’ No reserve

According to the Terms & Conditions of Purchase (on their site), on top of the hammer price comes 12.5% commission, which brings it to € 4.958.775, on top of which comes the (reduced rate of) 5.5% v.a.t. (to be calculated on hammer price + commission), which sets the buyer back € 5.231.508. Dunno know who bought it, but the good news (for him or her) is that the v.a.t. be may refunded when the car is being exported outside the EU.

The world's gone crazy (what's new).....

No not crazy, the greatest classic car in history was undervalued at $1.6-1.9M. If you look at the ridiculous prices far more inferior cars are now fetching, it is natural that the 300SL Gullwing reaches new highs.

Then there's the original SLR which sold for €135M in 2022
Yes and well, that was one of only two existing "Uhlenhaut Coupés" SLR types, which were owned by the MB Classic Museum at their HQ in Germany..
