The early USA DOT wiper motors have green plastic blocks.

All 124 Euro wiper motors, and USA facelift, have the blue plastic blocks as seen in the pictures above.

:bartman:

Dave, some also have black blocks. All my early US motors have blue blocks. All my late/euro motors have green blocks. Colors aside, the late/euro motors should have the plastic positioning block parallel with the bottom of the motor. The early US motors have the positioning block canted slightly, as seen in OPs pictures.

I personally took them off the car of the European version.

The part no.s for the late model US wiper motors are as follows.

L 124 820 6142
R 124 820 6242

I assume the Euro motor to be the same as the late model US motor although I don't know that to be fact. They are interchangeable.

The part no.s for the early US motors are

L 124 820 0942
R 124 820 1042

I cannot read the numbers in your photos clearly although the left motor in your picture looks to be the 0942 number.

Drew, those numbers you posted above are the green-plastic, USA DOT wipers.

The blue-plastic, Euro / USA-facelift wiper motors are:

124-820-09-42
124-820-10-42

Drew, I've never seen any with black plastic blocks... do you have photos?

I've only seen early with green, and late with blue. If there are exceptions to this, I'd love to see pictures!

Your part numbers are backwards, btw... EPC screenshot below:

I do have some with black positioning blocks. I'll post some pics. The R side motor in the OPs picks has a black block as well.
Although the numbers you reference from the EPC match the motors I have with "blue blocks" they are short shaft motors with the blocks canted.

Are the short shaft motors proper for the facelift cars? I'll go down and see if I can tell.

Apologies! Yes, the longer shaft motors are for the early US lights. I had it backwards.:hammerhead:

Interesting... the numbers A1248202142 and A1248202242 are early-version Euro motors, replaced/superceded to 124-820-09-42 and 124-820-10-42. Never seen them before!

:strawberry:

Here is a picture of one of the "now known by me" to be early/pre facelift wiper motors with a black positioning block.

Thanks, Drew! I wonder what year that was from. Perhaps the early USA motors had black plastic, and later USA had green?
