Help! Immobilizer/Alarm trouble...

Hi!

I have a E420, WDB1240341C070824, which refuses to start due to alarm/immobilizer being defect... It is a keyless system consisting of a infrared (i think) key, some kind of motion sensor by the passenger seat window and a small led light by the steering wheel. Both the key and the motion sensor thingy by the door has bosch logo on it. Is this an original system from the factory or an after market system? I want to disconnect the whole system, so the car is currently located at a garage, but the garage called me today and said that the color code of the wiring was different from what they are used to, and they were not able to find any wiring diagram for this system. Does anyone know where to find this? I am currently offshore and don't have any pictures of this system, but i will upload pictures if i am able to find some. The garage said originally that whis was an easy job and was suppose to have the car done till I comes back next monday, but without a wiring diagram I am afraid that this will not be the case... I would be truly grateful for some help! :)

Thanks!

AFAIK, W124 stock/factory IR (infrared remote) only has 2sensors to lock/unlock, 1 on the drivers door and 1 on left side of the boot/trunk lock..oh and a LED above HVAC controls on the console ,,does yours have these?? Sounds like you have an aftermarket one.

Hi. Yes, I have this system as well with an origianl mercedes IR key. But the mercedes IR key will only unlock the car, to be able to start it I have to use the other bosch key. So I also assume that I have an aftermarket system, but I dont know much about this. Any ideas where to find wiring diagram for this bosch system?

Yes, I have tried to google it for hours... I have figured out that the name of the system is Bosch Bloctronic, but haven't got any further than that..I guess tracing the wiring will be the final solution unfortunately.. Anyway, i appreciate your help!

Hi,
As far as I know, The original MB remote control immobilizer locks and unlocks the car but also immobilizes it.
It doesn't have any sensor in the car, only a red light on the central console above th airco.
The system works pretty well so I would suspect your after market product to be the cause of your problems.

I have the original MB system fitted - it's a full-closure system with immobilization and interior motion sensors fitted at the bottom of both windscreen pillars.
The LED is located next to the headlamp switch and is a two-position switch allowing use of the closure system or not, as required.
The only thing I've had to do was change the siren/battery unit as it was defunct and draining the battery even quicker than normal.....! It was replaced at MB for about 200 Euro I think - not an uncommon job seemingly.

Perhaps take the car to the main dealer and see if they have an answer rather than spending $$$ on labour trying to work out the system? Could be the best option....

Hello Vebjørn, it's nice to see you here on the board. :-)

As we talked about I've now checked locally, but it doesn't appear to be any good "car alarm nerds" here in Kongsberg. Not much info to get from the indy car shops either. I have a DEFA alarm connected to my Limited which has the IR-operated immobilizer equal to yours. Personally I don't see any reason to have it hooked up anymore, because who cares when they hear a car alarm?? It's more important that the immobilizer works IMO. So I propose you disconnect the auxilliary alarm and take it from there. (I recall you had problems with the central locking on the rear lid, maybe that's related to this error too?)

Cheers
:arnt:

PS. See you on Monday - coffee in your office. :-)

Hi,
Mind, on the 1994 E 500 I have, there are no sensors visible, just the remote control and the red light on the center console. The system is based on the switches of the doors, the trunk and the hood.

Thanks for more useful info. Yesterday my better half found some papers at home describing the setup of this system, so I have emailed these to the garage now. They said that they most likely would spend about 3-4 hours to disconnect the system by tracing the wires, so hopefully will these papers save some labour time. (Which is really expensive in Norway, approx 200USD/hour...)

Hi Arnt and thanks for telling me about 500Eboard!

I dont think the trunk lock trouble has anything to do with this, unfortunatly I think I have myself to blame for this problem.... So if anyone in here could explain how to disconnect/connect the trunk from being locked/unlocked by use of the central locking, shout out! :) I guess it has something to do with the valet key system.. ?

I will not be home on monday, but at tuesday earliest. However, the weather is building up out here, so it is a big risk for the Heli not being able to land before wednesday.. Anyway, coffe is a deal when I'm back! :)

Exactly what I have in my 600. Think it's a dealer fit not factory.

Hmmm....two Kongsbergians on the board now....oy !

Yes - it's great! :) Seems like we are representing the Norwegian lineage here.
Should be nice if some of the other Norwegian 036 and 034 owners could participate here too. I think I have close to forty 036 cars on the list now, and it is increasing.

Vebjørn has still not solved the problem, but I guess he chime in when things are sorted out.

I would have thought that some of my tweaks for the More-pay-ians would have attracted them .... such as :arnt:

Yes exactly Gerry - a very nice honor from you to us Norwegians, and I'm very thankful. But not one comment from my contrymen lurking here, and I know some are here from time to time.
So come on Norwegians - fill up and burn through the board! :banana2:

Hi again. Sorry for being so quiet..

New Status: Car is running! :) But something is still wrong... See link below for picture of alarm/immobilizer "boxes". To be able to start I have to disconnect-connect the plug marked with yellow arrow in picture. I got a hint from someone that the yellow/green cables (marked with green arrows in picture) going in/out of alarm box is the power supply to the starter, so by connecting these two together bypassing the alarm box should de-activate the immobilizer.. I have done this, but I still have to disconnect/connect the plug on the right side. The yellow/green cables are definitely connected to the starter, because the car will not start at all if these are not connected together. Any ideas how to solve this?
