Images of battery area

Hello all, hope you are all well,
I am after a picture of the rear battery area, ground cable location and how the main power cable runs to the battery, I ask for these images as I’m building a 500e replica and have just finished installing the rear 1/4’s

Some pics here

The 500E battery compartment is unique to that chassis and also NLA. Maybe other members can advise if 400E battery compartment will work better for you. Assuming that would be a better fit and maybe you can find a donor car to cut the sheetmetal from

The 400E and 500E battery compartment areas are quite different from one another, and I don't know that a 400E battery compartment is that easily adapted to a 500E. This may be a situation where something custom-fabricated along original 500E lines may be the better way to go.

@JC220 -- this could be an excellent line of business for you to get into -- having a metal fab shop create some new 500E specific replacement battery compartments. Not only for forum members, and a few units for your hoard, but also for the numerous 500Es that we all know are in your future as you slowly buy up all of them in the UK, as well as W140 and W220 models for your fleet.

Sorry what I meant was I think the OP has a non 500E 124 and wants to add a battery in the trunk retrospectively which is where a 400E item may be a better fit.

When he says new 1/4s fitted does he mean 500E items?

Good idea on the battery sheetmetal fab! Whilst I can repair my own cars most of them are now good and wont require attention again. Producing full size replicas is beyond my skill set unfortunately it would have to be commissioned. Maybe some time but not any times soon too much on.

W140s generally are very robust rust proofing wise they rarely ever need new battery sheetmetal. W220s are available aplenty on the yards so no need to make new sheetmetal for them. I'm doing such repairs at present with donor sections and custom hot dip galv panels for the most exposed areas.

As described above, you must provide more information in order to get a helpful answer. What year/model are you building into a replica? Do you have photo of the right rear quarter panel section / battery area?

My vehicle was originally a w124 230e, few years back I purchased a 500e rear clip from the US and got it sent to Australia. I have installed the rear quarters and now doing electrics so that’s why the images are required to give me a idea of how I should proceed with the battery cables

Your negative cable connection is pretty close to the original - looks good!

You are missing the bracket at the front side, near the positive terminal though:
