Is there a trick, knack to refit the interior mirror? I'm sure I've dislocated my thumb... Also, three wires for a self dipper, what is the third one
for in a non dipper 124?

Kevin

View my install video and while you don't have my tool, you can make your own.

If your referring to optional auto dimming mirror, you have a switched 12 volt and ground. The OE W124 auto dimming mirror didn't have a third wire. If it does (for some reason), then it would be for reverse lockout to disable the auto dimming feature.

ADMIN EDIT: Skip to 16:30 in the video to see the nifty installation trick.

Yep, what he said. You have to squeeze the spring and stick something thin it to hold the spring while you pop the mirror back in. Once you've done it once it gets pretty easy.

The video was helpfull, slipped a length of coat hanger wire into the gap, and the mirror was in place in no time at all. Thanks . . .

I've always found that a little spray of lube (Tri-Flow, LPS, Silicon spral, even light coat of motor oil or WD-40) on the ends of the pin will help it move on the install.

No tool required to install a mirror - you can remove it and install it 100% by hand. Anyone that says otherwise must be a 98-pound weakling.

Cheers,
Gerry
