Interior trunk panel part #s A little surprise

I removed both my left and right trunk panels today in preparation for StarFest 2012. I needed access to temporarily remove the rear shock so I could better clean the interior of the fender.

Anyhow I noticed two different part # tags or rather different origins of manufacture, see picture

For those familiar with Porsche part #s they use periods between the numbers.

I thought this was interesting even though the part is not mechanical in nature.

I found the same thing in my '94 E500... pic below. Pretty cool, I think this may be the only Porsche tag on the entire car.

I just checked my car it has the same Porsche sticker

I remember bringing up this sticker from my 1st E500, Fads well documented car, and some questioned if it was real. I know some dont think that much of the Porsche connection but l think its VERY cool.

A1246905830 is a Mercedes part number and its specific for the 500e/e500 only. The other piece applies to all the W124's

Yep, generally one of 2 or 3 Porsche stickers on the cars. My 1994 has it as well ... Again further evidence that 1994 models were made in Zuffenhausen, by Porsche (refuting the inaccuracy out there).

Cheers,
Gerry

I have used this particular picture to put to rest those rumors.

As was clearly mentioned in the Winding Road article.

As well as the MBCA Star article not too long ago, and repeated by several sellers and people in various forums on the Internet.

As 2Phast says, my photo of the E500 Limited in the Porsche Museum (being a later car) refutes this pablum 100%. Porsche wouldnt have bothered to put a late car in its museum if it wouldn't have made it in the Rossle-Bau building.

We need to deep-sixt this stupid meme as quickly & definitively as possible.

Cheers,
Gerry
