- Serves as a member of the senior management team of the CAWSC in the role of Associate Director for Projects and as principal advisor to the Center Director, with oversight responsibility for program planning, development, and implementation of interpretative projects in the CAWSC.
- Maintains oversight and provides advice and assistance to Program Chiefs on operational management of hydrologic investigations, research, project data collection activities, and products, including coordination of staffing, fiscal, and other resource needs among Program areas.
- Develops and maintains an understanding of hydrologic programs and issues relevant to California. Identifies hydrologic issues and, in concert with Program Chiefs, leads and coordinates development of projects within the State.
- Represents the CAWSC as an authority at meetings with technical and management staff from other USGS offices, other Federal agencies, State and local cooperators, private consultants, colleges and universities, private industry, and local and national technical societies.
- Plans, conducts, participates in, advises on, and monitors progress, quality, and the achievement of technical objectives, milestones, deadlines, and publications of the results of hydrologic investigations, research, and monitoring in California and sometimes in adjacent states. Activities involve the application of new and/or innovative techniques of hydrologic monitoring and analysis to highly complex scientific problems.
